Advantages: Delicious, creamy chocolate, coffee flavoured wafer

Disadvantages: I bet there are lots of calories in one of these!

I have always been fond of Bahlsen biscuits, I adore the sweetness of the biscuit combined with the thick milk chocolate. So imagine my disappointment when I sent my granddaughter to the shops for some only for her to come back with the wrong thing completely. Yes, they were Bahlsen but this variety had wafer instead of biscuit.

I ate one anyway and was absolutely shocked at how wonderfully tasting these biscuits were. The chocolate is the same creamy milk chocolate as Bahlsen always use, it's layered almost as thick as the wafer underneath and is so sweet and delicious that I often just nibble the chocolate away and leave the wafer for last.

I always think of Bahlsen biscuits as chocolate bars rather than a biscuit as there is so much chocolate on each one, if you're not a chocolate lover then these biscuits really aren't going to be for you.

The wafer though is lovely, much nicer than I expected. It has a subtle coffee flavour and is sweet and moreish. It's wonderfully crispy which compliments the creamy chocolate perfectly, biting throught the chocolate and then the wafer is a really gorgeous sensation and the two different textures work so well together.

If you don't mind sticky fingers then you can dunk these into your hot drink, coffee works best but tea is good too. The chocolate melts beautifully and the wafer goes nicely soggy, although your hands and possibly your shirt will get into an awful mess!

A pack of Bahlsen First Class costs around £1.49 from my local shop, each pack contains about 12 biscuits and believe me these are so good that you very likely might eat the whole pack in one go - and then feel rather sick!

Summary: Delicious biscuits from Bahlsen.
