... pack, nestled securely in a plastic tray, paying full price in a supermarket is a little excessive . I have seen these described as a rich buttery biscuit with a chocolate coating . This is somewhat inaccurate - I would describe these as a deliciously crunchy butter biscuit with a bar of good dark chocolate cemented on to the top . The chocolate is thick enough to qualify as a treat on it's own, and not only is it as thick (if not thicker) than the biscuit, but it is larger and overlaps the biscuit at the edges . Thi...more

These are my absolute favourite biscuits - I gre up on them in Germany as a child, and it's really only in the last couple of years that I've been able to easily find them in the UK. Now, for all have you have walked past these in a supermarket and been tempted to pick these up - Don't! In a mainstream supermarket, these often retail at upwards of 1.50 a pack. Take a little trip down to your local Lidl or Aldi, where continental products are cheaper, and you can more often than not grab a packet of these (in either the light or dark variety) for 90 pence, sometimes even less . And bearing in mind you only actually get nine biscuits per pack, nestled securely ...  Read the complete review

These are possibly my favourite biscuits which is why I don't buy them very often, I eat them far too quickly. The reason why I like them so much is simple there is more chocolate on them than there is biscuit. They consist of a butter biscuit and a thick chocolate coating. They are not the cheapest biscuits, which is another reason why I don't buy them very often £1.46 for only 9 biscuits (125g). I bought them this time as my local Tesco express had them on a 2 for 1 offer. Whilst these are available in both milk and plain chocolate my favourites have always been the plain. This is mainly as they go with my coffee better than the milk chocolate ones which I ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bahlsen Choco Leibniz Dark: More chocolate than biscuit - perfect! (725 words)

I'm having a bit of a housework blitz this weekend, and there is nothing I need more to help me along the way than some biscuits and lots of coffee. That way, I can "bribe" myself........If I do an hour's housework, I can sit down with a coffee and a biscuit, for half an hour. Then another hour housework, and another biscuit...... ......well, it is a reasonable excuse, anyway, and the housework is getting done as a result, which was the main aim of the weekend!! So, browsing the biscuit aisles yesterday at Tesco, I sw that these biscuits were on offer, at just 70p a box - about half their normal price. This made them much more ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Is it a chocolate? Is it a biscuit? Who cares! Let's eat! (546 words)

Bahlsen Choco Leibniz are what I consider 'posh biscuits' as they're roughly £1.45 per 125g packet (£1.16/100g), which makes them one of the most expensive biscuits on the market. But we always seem to have some in the house so I guess my fiancé's Mum stocks up on them when they're on special offer. These biscuits come in a box and within that box the biscuits sit in a plastic tray that is shrink-wrapped in clear plastic. I'm sure all this packaging is meant to stop the biscuits from breaking, but I think they're tough little cookies (excuse the pun!) and could withstand just a plastic wrapping like all the other biscuits. Anyway, as I said, we've ...  Read the complete review
