... of fruit salad sweets costing a very reasonable 35p. I used to love these sweets when I was young, they were one of my absolute favourites, only huge downside for me was that they usually came in a bag with those hideous creations BlackJack's - those vile liqueorice sweets that everybody universally seems to dislike. I didn't even realise that you could still buy these sweets, let alone in a pack on their own, so I was well chuffed. Once back in the car and on my way to the shops, I opened the pack and my tastebud...more

Premium Review Barratt Fruit Salad: Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my tummy! (431 words)

~ My Personal Experience ~ As a fervent sweet lover, fruit salad sweets are very tasty and certainly mouth watering. I preferred these over the Black Jack sweets as they had a nicer taste to them. The texture of the fruit salad sweets were at first hard and rectangular and had a yellow and pink colour to them. I remember my granny always used to give me these when I went to visit her every weekend and as a child you always looked forward to grannies as she had lots of goodies and sweeties for me to gobble on. ~ What do they taste like? ~ They taste quite fruity but I wouldn't say that it tastes exactly like a fruit salad sweet ...  Read the complete review

This is bit of a random one for me, I didn't start my day thinking I would gobble up a packet of Fruit Salad, especially after not having eaten one for well over 10 years. Anyway I was on my way to do a spot of Christmas shopping and realised I had no change for parking. I stopped in at a petrol garage on my way and tried to find the cheapest pack of something edible so I could get some change for my tenner. I have to say my eyes did light up when I spotted a pack of fruit salad sweets costing a very reasonable 35p. Barratt Fruit Salad I have always been a fan of chews. Even now im still very partial to a packet of chews and would regularly pick up a packet whilst buying petrol. It's hard not to make an impulse buy when you're queuing up to pay. One of my favourite chews is fruit salads made my Barratt. Where to buy? Traditionally these sweets came as part of a ten pence mix up and could have been picked up for around a penny a sweet. I rarely see them sold in this format anymore and instead they tend to be sold in packs of ten. I recently bought a packet of half fruit salad and half black jacks in Sainsbury's for £1.09. What is a fruit ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fancy something fruity and cheap? No it's not a woman! (310 words)

Back to memory lane we go, for fruit salads. Back in the day you were either a blackjacks person or a fruit salad person; I was blackjacks! Fruit salads are small, hard chewy sweets that are the size of a postage stamp (a bit smaller in fact). They are usually found in the 1p section of sweet shops, and as such are ideal for those of us who only ever had 20p for pocket money (my parents were so tight!). So what do you get for your 1p? You get a sweet that is hard to unwrap. The wrapper is pretty much vacuum packed around the sweet, which makes it hard to unwrap. It also sticks to the sweet, and half the time you give up and eat the paper along with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Barratt Fruit Salad: Not what I'd call a fruit salad! (321 words)

I don't understand why on earth barratts have decided to put both Fruit Salads and Black Jacks in a bag together! What on earth were they thinking? That's like grabbing a hold of Jesus and Satan, making them hold hands and then wrapping them up in a plastic bag multiplying them by twenty and then selling them on the shelves in supermarkets. I love fruit salads just like I love Jesus but Blacks Jacks are like Satan to me! Anyway you can buy them (not Jesus and Satan) for around £1.30 in Sainsburys. The Fruit Salad is one of my all time favourites and has been since the day you could buy them in the penny mix at my corner shop. They are basically a chewy sweet ...  Read the complete review
