There seem to be a small range of sweets that have defied the odds and kept going through the last twenty or so years. For whatever reason, Barratt's Natural Candy Sticks have been a firm favourite over the last quater century, and for me personally they remain one of my first choices of sweet. To look at, they're pretty odd: a small cardboard carton, similar to a matchbox, is filled with long white sticks. I fond memories of this from my childhood. I remember buying a pack for around 5p and then sitting at the bottom of our road pretending to smoke them. I don't know how many times I made an idiot of myself by trying to convince my friends that they were real cigarettes that I was smoking because they look nothing like a real one. I soon ditched these and tried the same trick several times when those chocolate cigarettes appeared on the shelf, remember those??? I picked up a packet of four of these from approvedfood.co.uk for around 20p but they do them individually down our local Spar for around 10p each.
