Bassett's Mint Creams

Description: Also called Clarnico Mints. 200g.

Newest Review: ... the mint itself looks like a white circular disc and is a little chunky in its appearance Price? Around £1.49 for 200 gram ... more

... bag this equates to 62p per 100 grams, not bad as you get a lot in a bag so they do last About the Taste? These are like a mint flavoured icing, once on the tongue these start to dissolve, with all the mint flavour escaping, very menthol like too, good strong minty taste Healthy? These are made from sugar predominantly so this is the main sinner in these Conclusion? Great for sharing, plenty in a bag, all from a great brand as Bassetts...more

Premium Review Bassett's Mint Creams: Great minty favour (420 words)

I love peppermint creams. I can remember years ago as a child I used to love making sweets with my sister. Peppermint creams were one of the first sweets I remember making. We used to make them with just icing sugar and peppermint essence they were easy to make and tasty and they didn't need much to make them and leave them to set (that was the hard part 'leaving' them) and they didn't need any cooking. Nowadays there is a much simpler way to get these tasty sweets - pop along to your local supermarket and you should find the distinctive green and white bag hanging up amongst the sweets. Current price in Tesco is £1.08 for 200g and just like the ones we made ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mint flavoured butter? No thanks! (318 words)

I am having a bit of a mint-a-thon in my reviews at the moment, and to be honest I never really mint to (haha). Anyway, onto the one mint I hate above all else, the one that I will say no to if offered, and the one I skip over in the Pik N Mix stand (and there's not many of them). Yes, it's the mint cream. What you have here is a white sweet that has the same consistency as soft toffee or fudge, but is mint flavoured. The mint flavouring is very strong (it's not just a hint of mint like actual mint fudge), and the consistency is so soft that one squidge in your mouth and it's all over the place. In my experience, the feeling is very similar to eating a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bassett's Mint Creams: A Taste of Minty Nostalgia (444 words)

Near to where I live, there is a sweet shop, but not just any sweet shop...This particular shop is one of those quaint, old-fashioned confectioners with jars of sweets in the window and a range that no supermarket could ever match! You will find a plethora of toffees, chocolates, mints, boiled sweets and many more of the sweets you enjoyed as a kid. One particular sweet I would definitely recommend is the Clarnico Mint Cream. Although this wasn't a known sweet from my childhood, my Dad insisted that we buy some, as he remembered them from his youth. I am very pleased we did as they are very nice. Clarnico Mint Creams are probably best described as fondants. ...  Read the complete review

I lost touch with a very good friend of mine a few years ago but just the other day whilst being dragged around Tesco there was my friend just sitting on the shelf right in front of my eyes. Don't worry this friend sitting on the shelf was not a person it was a bag of Bassett's mint creams. I used to eat massive amounts of these things then somewhat put myself off them by over indulging then the next time I fancied a bag I could not find them anywhere so I grabbed bag from Tesco costing me £1.08 and looked forward to them. I did not make it as far as home without having one but decided to get stuck into them on the drive home, they are every bit as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bassett's Mint Creams: Bassett's Soft Mints - AKA Clarnico (602 words)

Bassett’s Soft Mints – AKA Clarnico Another mint product has come off the shelf and into my handbag. Only for a short period of time however and before I have devoured the whole packet I thought I should write a quick review to let you know how absolutely fabulous these particular mints are. These mints have been around for a long time and to be honest they are not that widely available as I have only seen them in one of the cheap shops near where I live and not in many sweet shops around. These mints come in a bag and are individually wrapped in paper wrapping. The colour of the packaging is a lovely light green minty colour ...  Read the complete review
