Batchelors Golden Savoury Rice.



This makes a change from potatoes, or chips (even though my chips are healthy oven chips) sometimes i just fancy something diferent to add to my meal.

You can eat this on its own, or add to a plate of vegtables, it is really nice, and quick and easy to cook.

The Package **********


This is a rip open package, it is not too hard to open, has a picture of a bowl of this delicious rice, and i really enjoy it, at 67p for one packet, which gives a genourous portion enough for two at a pinch, or a big helping for one.

How to Cook **********


Well its up to you, i cook mine in a saucepan on the hob, i boil my water first then add the mixture inside the packet, (this consists of dried rice, and vegtables, like carrots, peppers and beans, and it doesnt take too long, keep stiring this whilst it is cooking, the rice will start to cook, takes just over five minutes this way, and it does have a tendency to absorb all the water, so simmer after a few minutes, otherwise you will end up with all the water gone, and the rice would still be hard to the taste, and then if you add more water it just waters the flavouring down a little, so just keep an eye on it, once you are cooking it.

ALTERNATIVELY **********

Cook in a bowl of previously boiled water in the mircrowave for a few minutes, stir half way through, until soft.

Batchelors make lovely golden savoury rice, i had some tonight for my dinner with a few cooked pieces of barbecue chicken, which i got from Sainsbury,s and cooked myself, it was a nice meal, and i find one whole packet to myself very filling.

I would recommend this as it is a great alternative to have with meat, sasages, or chicken, or with Iceland Square shapped sasages, which i am very fond off.

I think that this is high on the calories, but is ok if you eat like i do, just now and again.

It is a great idea to keep a packet of this in the food cupboard, and whatever you serve it with, it has a great smell, and really looks presentable on any plate.

Because of the bits and pieces of vegtables, that are added to this rice dish, it is a great colourfull accompanyment to any meat dish.

I like this, and would recommend this to anyone.
