Advantages: Tastes Great If You Add Things Too It !!!!

Disadvantages: Not Enough In The Packet

I am always on the look out for something quick and tasty to eat, that is not going to be too unhealthy and which will at least slightly satisfy hunger cravings, particularly on a nightshift where it can often be a huge temptation to pick at unhealthy things. I have tried all manner of products however would swear by Batchelors Pasta n Sauce. I have tried several varieties of this product however have decided that the tastiest version is Mild Cheese and Broccoli flavour. This is no substitute for proper home-cooked meals I hasten to add, however it is useful as a quick snack which is exceptionally easy to prepare.

I usually turn up to work armed with a Tupperware container filled with salad and my pasta n sauce mix. It states on the front of the product that a 123g pack can serve one person as a snack or two as part of a main meal. I however do not think that this applies to me as halfway through a twelve and a half hour shift I tend to eat two full packs of this product combined. I find that this provides a satisfying amount of food for my main meal of the day.

The beauty of this product is that it can be prepared either on the hob or in a microwave as I tend to make it. This is due to it only taking 8 minutes before its ready to be eaten. You basically empty the pack contents into a microwaveable bowl, add milk, boiling water and butter (optional but makes it tastier). Cover with film and pierce. You need to stop the microwave twice during cooking to give the pasta a good stir. You then leave it to stand for five minutes after which time the sauce will thicken and the product is then ready to be eaten.

It has quite a thick consistency when ready, and is quite creamy. You can certainly taste the cheese and broccoli too. It is quite mild which I think is the best part about it as often these packet varieties can be over-powering. The good thing is that there is no powder residue as long as you mix it thoroughly. I have tried this with and without butter and would certainly recommend that you add this option otherwise it can taste a bit plain. I add parmesan cheese and pepper to mine which I think enhances the flavour too. Overall very tasty. I would also suggest that this could be a good accompaniment to a home cooked meal too. Batchelors have provided a tip on the packaging in which they recommend adding cooked chopped bacon and dried herbs to compliment this product.

Overall handy if there's nothing available or if you feel like having a lazy day. I have to admit that I tend to only use this product occasionally Don't expect a gourmet meal however when you have few options open to you and require a hot meal this product really hits the spot. It actually does taste of broccoli and cheese too. Not like a plate of tastelessness like you can often experience with some of the cheaper versions available, and believe me I have tried several of them. Packets would benefit from being a bit bigger however, as I think. £1.29 is a bit expensive for what you actually get.

Summary: Ideal For A Quick Hot Snack

I've not had this flavour (don't like brocolli) but love the mushroom and wine and chicken and mushroom....I find one is enough if you add some chopped ham and grated cheese and stuff!

If you're on Slimming World you can eat as many of these on a green day as you want and not have to count them! Great review.
