Advantages: Well nice, cheap, versatile

Disadvantages: Crap packet

I am fairly well known for being the ultimate cheap arse on Dooyoo, I only buy brand name things if they are on special offer.

Also, most of the food in my cupboards usually finds its way in there from my Nan’s pantry or freezer.
So why should my next meal be any different?
I’ll tell you why, are you sitting comfortably?
Right, prepare for the biggest shock you’ve had in weeks, I bought a brand name food from the local shop ALL BY MYSELF.

I mean, I actually spent my own money (65 whole pence) to purchase something that didn’t have the words BEST BUY on the label AND it came directly from a shop instead of a kind old ladies charitable cupboard.

What amazing food could this be one wonders?
Well, seeing as how my Nan won’t buy this stuff I have to get my occasional pasta fix from somewhere.
Batchelors Pasta ‘N’ Sauce – mild cheese and broccoli, just one of about half a dozen flavors available including my two faves, chicken and mushroom and ham and mushroom.
So what is BPNS? Well, it’s simple really, it is a packet of pasta with a flavored powder which turns into a tasty sauce when milk, water and butter is added.

I am such a lazy person it’s unreal, so making myself something to scran has to be with the minimum of fuss.
Either microwaveable or boiled up in a pan for a few minutes are the only two options I usually use.
Batchelors Pasta ‘N’ Sauce – Here are my findings:

~~~~~~PACKAGING~~~~~~
The packet this stuff comes in is so basic it’s almost crap, a deep navy blue background with a large fork full of cooked pasta and the name and brand printed above and below.
The back of the packet is the same but with a large cream box to house all of the product information and the slyest of sly little adverts at the bottom.
“Why not try a Batchelors cup a soup extra” – Excuse me!
If I wanted to try a cup a soup extra, would I not have bought one instead of this pasta ‘n’ sauce? P*ss off I aint bloody interested.
Each pack is 123g’s (uncooked) just enough for one person and is suitable for all you vegetarians out there.
~~~~~~COOKING INSTRUCTIONS~~~~~~

You will need to add half a pint of water, a quarter of a pint of milk and a knob (no not that kind) of butter or margarine

On the hob: Place the water, milk and butter in a pan and bring to the boil.
Stir in the Batchelors Pasta ‘N’ Sauce
Boil gently for approx 8 – 10 minutes until the Pasta is tender.
The sauce will thicken on standing.

Microwave: Empty the pasta into a microwave bowl (4 pt) and add the milk, butter and boiling water.
Cover with microwave film and pierce.
Cook on full power for 10 mins (650W) 9 mins (750W) stop and stir twice during cooking.
Remove from the microwave, stir and leave to stand for 5 mins until the sauce thickens.

Take my advice, cook it in a pan it’s miles easier.

~~~~~~NUTRITION INFORMATION~~~~~~
Each pack (uncooked so add for the milk and butter) contains 475 calories and 5.8g’s of fat, so not too fattening if you are on a diet.
~~~~~~TASTE LOOK AND SMELL~~~~~~

Well once the Pasta ‘N’ Sauce is ready it does look very tasty, basically like lots of small pasta tubes in a creamy sauce with little green bits in it AHEM!

The smell: The aroma that this gives off is so good that if your taste buds don’t run out of liquid within a few minutes, then you are in trouble.
A strong cheesy aroma (but not the sweaty sock kind) arises from the pan and prepares you for the taste test.

The Taste: WOW! If you love pasta, if you love cheese, then you are going to be in the realms of heaven for the few minutes (or seconds in my case) that it takes to munch through a helping of th
is.
The pasta is succulent and juicy and the sauce is packed with flavor to give a really satisfying dish.

I tried the tip on the back of the packet too, throw in some chopped up, cooked bacon to maximize the flavor – SWOON! Can this stuff get any better?
Filling, tasty and a great meal accompaniment and at a measly 65p per pack, you simply cannot go wrong,
even if the packet design is woeful.

~~~~~~CONTACT INFORMATION~~~~~~
As always, I’ll finish with the address and the phone number so here they are.
Sounds like I've been missing out here! Not usually into reconstituted food, but you've made this sound pretty tempting!
