However, in my opinion, a rival to the Baxters Chicken Broth this is not. I heated it in the same way and for the same amount of time and indeed for convenience it is as impressive as its sibling. But on tasting it I was less than impressed. Large and stringy looking clumps of leek were floating about in my soup. I like leek but these were wholly unappetising due to th...more

Premium Review Baxters Cock-a-Leekie: Soggy Snotty Leeks (432 words)

I have been eating soups for my lunch for the last month or so as the weather has gone cold and I find them quite comforting. I am a big fan of the Baxters Chicken Broth (see my review for more details) and so I assumed that I would also like this soup which seemed quite similar from the ingredients and was round about the same in terms of being a low fat option. I bought my tin for 86p from my local Asda and was impressed to note that for the entire can there was only 96 calories (even less than the chicken broth) and 0.2g of fat. This works out at 1.5 points per entire can and means I can have two slices of bread with it to make it feel more substantial and ...  Read the complete review

I love soup, so I always have a variety of tins lurking in my cupboard, ready to heat up quickly for a snack whenever I get the urge - which is happening more and more often as the nights start to get longer and the temperatures get colder . One of my favourite soup brands has to be Baxters, who have been around since 1868, and making soups since 1929. They're a traditional Scottish company, and the packaging of this soup reflects that, being very traditional, with flashes or tartan and a photo of the soup steaming hot in a bowl . The can also has a handy ring pull, which I like as it means I don't have to go hunting around for a tin opener . ...  Read the complete review

You are probably more than likely aware that I am watching what i eat at the moment and to be honest I am quite enjoying the diet that I am doing. Its not very interesting and some would say that what I am eating at the moment is pretty boring however watching the pounds drop off as I am now nearly at my target weight is great. What I am eating a lot of at the moment is soup and I find that its a filling and quick snack, that has minimal calories depending on what flavour you are having and is working wonders for me. As a rule, I used to stick to the boring original flavours, tomato, chicken, vegetable and my favourite oxtail, however, to add more variation in ...  Read the complete review
