... handful of diced cucumer - very refreshing. The attractive 250ml jar has the famous Baxter's logo & the colour of the jar makes it unmistakeably mint sauce (although I think they also produce mint jelly?). On opening the screw-top lid there's a lovely smell of mint & vinegar which is truly mouthwatering. The colour is dark green &, in my opinion, the texture is just right as it's not too coarse nor too fine & defintitely not watery. I think Baxter's have the got the combination of flavours exactly righ...more

Premium Review Baxters Mint Sauce: feeling minty? (388 words)

I usually have fresh mint growing in the garden & have tried over the years to make my own mint sauce without much luck I'm afraid - I just can't get the taste which you get with the choice of mint sauces on the supermarket shelves. I've tried cheaper makes such as supermarket ones but always go back to Baxters because it's ideal for our family's tastes. We go through a fair amount of mint sauce in our house - not just to have with lamb roasts but also because I make a lot of yoghurt dressings - just add itbsp of mint sauce to a bowful of plain Greek youghue=rt, a little salt & a big handful of diced cucumer - very refreshing. Premium Review Don`t Be So Saucy (436 words)

There is nothing quite like the taste of roast lamb, given the choice of cut I would prefer to buy the shank end of the leg, it seems to have plenty of flavour. It is such a shame that lamb has become such a luxury, but if you are truly going to enjoy lamb you certainly need to invest in some good quality mint sauce. Baxter's are purveyors of the finest condiments, relishes, sauces, pickles and preserves. In 1869 George Baxter borrowed the sum of £100 from his relatives and opened a small grocery shop in Fochabers, which stands in the Laich of Moray, Scotland. Georges wife began making jams and jellies in the back of the shop and their ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Baxters Mint Sauce: One of my preferred condiments! (638 words)

I am not a huge fan of adding condiments to my dinners and there are only a couple of things I ever use. One of these is Mint Sauce. Traditionally Mint Sauce is meant to couple lamb and a gorgeous Sunday roast dinner of lamb is delicious with a dollop of mint sauce nestled nicely on the plate next to the meat. However, although beef is traditionally meant to be shared with Horseradish Sauce, I can think of nothing fouler, and therefore like a nice teaspoon of mint sauce with my beef as well. To be honest we eat far more beef than lamb when it comes to Sunday roasts so my jar of mint sauce is nicely used up. Some people like theirs to be a little ...  Read the complete review

Much less salt than some soups. It's still tinned soup, and nothing beats homemade!
