Another cold dark night last night, and another can of soup heated up and eaten to give me back my warmth - This time Royal Game Soup from Baxters. I quite like Baxters as a brand- Baxters have been making soups since 1929,and Royal Game Soup was the first one developed - in fact, there is a little backstory about the soup on the tin, which is itself quite nicely designed - a big bowl of steaming hot soup sitting on a tartan tablecloth in the Scottish Highlands, with a majestic stag standing behind it . I usually make my own soup but one tinned soup I love is Baxters Royal Game, especially during these cold winter months as it's a very warming soup which I find especially comforting with a large chunk of French stick. Baxters first created their Royal Game soup back in 1929 and I for one can see why it's stood the test of time, not least because it's such a simple soup yet tastes luxurious and moreish. Royal Game soup always puts me in mind of a spicier and richer version of oxtail soup, this is down to the consistency and also the basis of the flavour is very similar in taste.
