BEL PAESE CHEESE

As you I know I do like a little bit of cheese. Bel Paese is an Italian cheese that I like.

The name Bel Paese means beautiful country. You can imagine the cows in the lush green meadows producing the creamiest milk to make this cheese. Actually a book by Stoppani inspired the cheese name.

I like this cheese on a plain unflavoured cheese biscuit best. The cheese is a soft creamy white. It has an elastic type quality when I spread it. It is also good spread on a circle of a French stick. It is a cheese to use spread on crackers or bread for a party. You can make it attractive by adding a circle of tomato, or cucumber, onion rings look good on it too. This cheese can be used in pasta dishes or onto a pizza
As I bite into my cheese it has a pleasant light tangy flavour very mild. It is a smooth cheese .A gentle flavour.

Egidio Galbani created this cheese in 1906. It is made at Melzo in Lombardy.
Bel Paese is an unpressed uncooked cheese a semi soft cheese.
It is matured for about 50 days before it is packaged and sold. The packaging of this cheese is attractive.
It is presented in a wheel shape. The circle of cheese is wrapped in a gold foil that has a round paper label stating it is Crema del paese. The genuine Bel paese cheese has a map of Italy on it and an image of a priest. When this cheese is licensed in America it has a map of America on it. The label is green and white label with a red ring and red word Galbani the manufacturer.

This cheese comes in individual 25g portions sold at most supermarkets. I bought mine in Morrisons the other day it cost me 35 p for 2 28g portions in a gold plastic see through circular container .It is also available in smaller 25g portions sold singular at cheese counters.
The ingredients are milk water whey cream butter. This cheese contains 284 kcal per 100g. Has vitamins A and vitamin B12. I would recommend this cheese it tastes good
