Advantages: Taste

Disadvantages: Price

After going on holiday I decided that I needed to get back to eating healthily after eating too much rubbish. So in Tesco I bought salad, low fat crisps, fruit and Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough ice cream. The latter was due to my daughter seeing it on offer and discretely placing it in under the crisps! At first I said I wasn't going to have any but when I saw her eating a bowl, I knew I just had to have a taste.

Ben and Jerry's ice cream is quite a luxury for us as we never usually buy ice cream and this one is usually quite expensive. It is a brand which has quite a few flavours of ice cream with interesting names such as Phish food and Chunky Monkey. They come in smallish tubs such as 500ml which doesn't go very far, it only gives around 6 servings of ice cream.

The look of the cookie dough is of typical ice cream, it looks delicious and creamy but then it also has the treat of small chocolate bits in it as well as these funny looking blobs of brownish bits which I surmised would be the cookie dough part of the ice cream. Now I absolutely love ice cream but have to admit that it is a one taste treat, but not with this ice cream. The mixing blend of smooth, creamy ice cream along with the chocolate bits adds a nice crunch to the ice cream. But it is the cookie dough bits that make this treat, they have a strange texture to them and the taste is rather odd that I can't really explain in writing. However mixing the dough with the ice cream truly does make this delicious dish in which different flavours create an explosion of taste in your mouth.

So this ice cream sounds like the best doesn't it? Well it is really in my eyes apart from the fact that when it isn't on offer this ice cream is £4 for the 500ml tub which lasts about two days in our house! On offer it is half price and then I don't really mind paying for it as I think a treat every now and again isn't too bad. The calorie content is quite high in these tubs but you can get the light version which is quite so bad for you, but trust me they are hard to find, I have only seen them a couple of times.

Overall it is a lovely ice cream which I would definitely buy again but only at a lower price. It tastes delicious and is very more-is so watch out or else you might be like me the other day when I had the tub in one hand, a spoon in the other where 500ml of ice cream has never disappeared quite so quickly. I better get myself to the gym, but I completely recommend this ice cream to anyone with better self control than me!

Summary: Lovely but bad for you
