Advantages: Yummy mallowness with polar bears
Disadvantages: Other people always want to share it
I'm a fan of good icecream - I think most people are really. It's just that being an awkward sod I can't eat chocolate (it sets off my fibromyalgia) which means that most of the varieties of Ben & Jerry's icecreams are off limits to me. I can't remember when exactly it was that we found this, I do remember though that it was my husband who did so and was incredibly pleased with himself that he'd found a 'fancy' icecream that I could eat! I have to say I was impressed too - I think I'd all but given up looking to be honest.
How to eat it:
This is - as far as I'm aware - the only icecream in the Ben and Jerry's range which is best served reeeeeally reeeeeeally frozen. Most of them seem to be that little bit better for being allowed to rest when you take them out of the freezer before you eat them, this one - set your freezer to Arctic and wait! The flavours are just sooo much better this way! I like mine straight from the tub, but if you're going to be daring you could try bending a spoon or two scooping some out into a bowl.
The flavours
Ummm... well it's basis is a vanilla icecream, but it's really got to be one of the best vanilla icecreams you'll ever taste it truely has. Then there's the marshmallowy streaks that run through it - like little tiny rivers of marshy mallowy softness. And then there's the polar bears - well white chocolate ones anyway ;) These are in there and if you were daring enough to try scooping some into a bowl these were probably what bent your spoon - bears are tough you know! All these three flavours combine to give you a really creamy melty georgousness as you eat it, and yes if you don't watch yourself the tub will be empty reeeeeally fast!
The downside
umm well there had to be one I guess.... Here sadly there's two - well three really.... First the cost; like all Ben & Jerry products it's not cheap, you're talking £3-4 a tub from the supermarkets and possibly more if you're buying at a corner shop. Second is the calories; if you're like me and struggle with things sticking to your hips then this one is going straight there I'm afraid! Third.. there's always someone around who wants to share it! ;)
Summary: Tempting and tasty treat which costs a fortune but is well worth it.
