Chocolate, salty nuts? No thanks! (Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Macadamia Ice Cream)

Advantages: The ice cream

Disadvantages: The nuts are salty yuk!

My brother in law has come home from traveling the world, for a few weeks so we aren't sticking to our healthy eating plan. Last night we paid a quick visit to Morrisons to pick up some treats to eat with a film and when I saw that Ben and Jerry's ice cream was only £1.90 per tub, I couldn't resist it. I usually go for chocolate fudge brownie but decided to put my chocolate peanuts back on the shelf and try this Macadamia one instead.

The ice cream consists of both white and chocolate ice cream and incooperated into this are some macadamia nuts covered in milk chocolate.

I was expecting to really love this ice cream more than any I have had before because I love, love, love chocolate nuts of any kind.

The pot was filled to the brim as is most Ben and Jerry's Ice cream so I was impressed with this. The ice cream looked really good with the white and chocolate ice cream swirling through each other. It didn't really smell of much but the appearance made me want to tuck in straight away.

The ice cream was really tasty. The chocolate flavour was the most apparent and it was really creamy and mild. It was nothing like the ice cream that is in the chocolate fudge brownie flavor which is very rich and 'in your facee. It was pleasant and it suited my need at the time after I had eaten a tonne of matchmakers and other chocolate based treats.

The nuts were far from sparse and I was finding one in every spoonful. They varied in shape but most of them were fairly big. Now Ive never tasted macadamia nuts but figured that they would be like any other nut Ive eaten. I was wrong and I didn't like them much. They were very hard to bite through but I found them to be really salty and this put me off them.

Combining the whole thing was a bit like eating salty popcorn or cheese and pineapple for me, it just didn't go and although I ate the whole thing , I can't say I really enjoyed it.

All in all a big disappointment for a nut lover and unless you are definitely sure that you like macadamia nuts then I wouldn't bother with this one. I think they should replace the nuts with brazils or peanuts.
