Advantages: superb quality, delicious, lots of chewy caramel sweets

Disadvantages: expensive, calorific

I had been 'good' all day, toast for breakfast, a salad for lunch and an omelette for dinner, but as I walked past the frozen foods cabinet in my local grocery store I found myself mesmerised by the last tub of Ben and Jerry's Caramel Chew Chew ice cream. One last tub...It was fate...It had to be mine!

Twenty minutes later I was plonked on the couch waiting for it to melt to that mouth watering soft, creamy consistency that is ice-cream at its best. I didn't have to wait long - about another five minutes and it was ready.

I dug the spoon in and admired the way it slid in smoothly with no resistance, none of that icy crunchiness that warns you you're about to taste inferior ice cream.

It looked fantastic...Golden caramel coloured ice cream littered with warm brown swirls of caramel and peppered with gorgeous little chocolate caramel sweets. The ice cream was speckled with vanilla from the pod, the mark of a good brand.

The taste...How can I describe it? The creaminess of the ice cream complemented by the extra sweetness of the caramel, and on top of that you have the chocolate caramel sweets, which taste like little mini rolos. I was in Heaven!

This is a very sweet ice-cream, so avoid it if you don't have a sweet tooth. For all that, it isn't a sickly kind of sweetness, although I wouldn't recommend polishing off the tub in one sitting! It's at its best when left to melt for a few minutes, rather than directly out of the freezer.

The prioce of a 500ml tub varies, it cost £3.79 from my local grocers, but I've seen it in the supermarkets for £3.29. Not the cheapest of icecreams, so if you're lucky enough to spot a BOGOF (Buy one get one free) you'd have to be mad not to take advantage of it!

This was the first Ben and Jerry's flavour I'd tried. I've always been a Haagen Dazs fan, but now I think I'll have to try a few more Ben and Jerry'
;s. if they're all as delicious as the Caramel Chew Chew flavour, I may have to reconsider which brand I buy in the future!

B&J definitely produce my favourite ice-cream. Haven't tried this one yet, though.

BTW Our local Tesco were offering Chubby Hubby at something like £1.64 per tub yesterday. Sadly, there was none left for us. The naughty, greedy, thoughtless people had already bought it up, instead of giving it all to me. Rotters.

BIG problem...........

Ben and Jerry's make loads of different flavours... once hooked it is a slippery slope...lol..

Yo u really did make it sound very sexy indeed... Fun read with facts and detail dotted around like the wonderful chunks you find in the ice cream..
Thanks..
