Advantages: Less fat

Disadvantages: tastes a little icey

Ben and Jerry's is on a half price offer at Tesco's at the moment and it just so happens that I have been craving the stuff lately. Both my hubby and I picked up a 500ml tub to scoff at the weekend but I decided to go for the frozen yogurt instead of the hardcore ice cream. The reason for this is that I am quite weight conscience and will always go for the healthy option if I can.

This frozen yogurt is a low fat version of the Chocolate fudge brownie ice cream and instead of it containing nearly 30g of fat per 100g it only contains 5g which is obviously a huge difference. It is still rather high in sugar though so don't be kidding yourself into thinking that it's a totally 'guilt free' treat.

As far as the look of the yogurt goes, it looks exactly the same as the ice cream and even the packaging looks very similar. There have been occasions when I have asked for the frozen yogurt and my hubby has come home with the ice cream because they do look very much the same. The ice cream is a rich, dark brown with darker chunks of brownie thrown into the mix. The only noticeable difference is that the top of the ice cream is quite icey.

I was quite impressed with the taste considering how much less fat is included in this yogurt. It was very rich and chocolately and definitely curbed my sweet tooth. I actually found that the whole tub was unmanageable which doesn't happen very often with me. I would say that it wasn't as creamy as the ice cream and was a little more 'icy' than anything but this didn't bother me because the chocolate taste was so intense.

The one thing that did bother me was the fact that there wasn't as much brownie pieces in the pot as you would find in the ice cream. I suppose I was a little naive in thinking that they would cut corners on this side of things. The chunks that were in there were a good size but I would have liked a little more of them.

Over all this is a good compromise for those who like a nice treat but with less calories. At the moment you can get a tub from Tesco's for £1.99 instead of the original £3.99 price tag.

Summary: Yum!
