Advantages: Luxurious chocolatey ice cream

Disadvantages: Expensive

Ben & Jerry's is a luxury ice cream brand sold in the major supermarkets and many cinemas and other concession stands. I've tried a few flavours, as well as trying other brands and the B&Js Chocolate Fudge Brownie is the only ice cream I ever buy now.

It is a very rich, chocolately and moreish treat. The ice cream is creamy and has a real chocolate taste without being too sweet. Throughout the ice cream there are chunks of brownie and unlike other brands and indeed other flavours by this brand they have not skimped on these at all. There are lots of big chunks of soft, dark, chewy chocolate brownie making the ice cream a real treat to eat.

It comes in a cardboard tub with a cardboard lid that tends to go a little soggy when going in and out of the freezer but it serves its purpose. The tubs are 500g and do at least 4 decent servings. Its best to get it out of the freezer 10 or 20 minutes before you want to serve it or you might just end up with a broken spoon.

The 500g tubs cost £3.99 each which is far more than I am prepared to pay for ice cream. Luckily for me I shop at both Tesco and Sainsburys and often one or the other will have either a half price or bogof offer on them.

A couple of warnings though;
- be quick if they're on offer as they run out of this flavour quickly
- don't accidently buy frozen yogurt in the same flavour (I've never actually tried it, was sent it once as a substitution but didn't fancy it)

Summary: Keep some space in your freezer so you can stock up when they're on offer
