Why, oh why do I keep on doing this to myself? Why is it, when rigorous scientific testing has proved that the only flavour of Ben and Jerry's ice cream worth the whopping £4 a tub is Cherry Garcia, do I insist on trying other flavours? Especially after trying the cloying nastiness that was Honey I'm Home? I celebrated my self control at having eaten only 2 ice creams while on holiday in a hot foreign country by, erm, coming back to Manchester and scoffing a tub of Ben and Jerry’s. Ok, that’s a lie. Vanilla Caramel Fudge is a bit of a departure from the usual Ben and Jerry's format. We're used to their ice cream with a weird and wonderful selection of chunks and peices in, from chocolate to nuts to fudge brownies. Vanilla Caramel Fudge doesn't actually contain any chunks at all (the only flavour to do so I believe, apart of course, from vanilla), but swirls of chocolate, fudge and caramel. Vanilla Caramel Fudge is truly the one for the lazy. B & J's market it as having no bits, so it requires no chewing; perfect for those who like to sit on the sofa all day! Well the no lumps makes for a truly creamy and smooth taste, while the caramel and fudge add flavour and depth to the bland vanilla. I find myself in my kitchen, looking for something sweet and wholesome after eating a bland dinner. I check through the fridge, nothing there. I was at a friend's house the other day and he had this flavour. He is a big ice cream fan like me and had never tried this kind. Neither have I, so we got stuck into the tub. The ice cream and flavour is not bad, but there are so many better ones out there by Ben and Jerry's. This cost £3.69 out of a supermarket near where I live. This one has vanilla ice cream. Ben and Jerry's vanilla is good, but I find all vanilla pretty boring. B&J ice cream is always creamy and I suppose that does make a difference to how nice it is.
