Advantages: Great taste, Several flavours

Disadvantages: Uniform texture, Unhealthy

Vanilla Caramel Fudge is a bit of a departure from the usual Ben and Jerry's format. We're used to their ice cream with a weird and wonderful selection of chunks and peices in, from chocolate to nuts to fudge brownies. Vanilla Caramel Fudge doesn't actually contain any chunks at all (the only flavour to do so I believe, apart of course, from vanilla), but swirls of chocolate, fudge and caramel. Being Ben and Jerrys they naturally turn this into a selling point, marketing this as the ice cream for people too lazy to chew!

So what is the flavour like? Well the foundation is their creamy vanilla ice cream, found in may of their flavours, and it has the same creamy and smooth texture as always. The 3 swirls come in roughly equal amounts. The chocolate is probably the best, working beautifully in moderation (I find it overpowering when it's the foundation ice-cream). For buffs the caramel is remarkably similar to that found in Haagen Daz's pralines and cream flavour and just like in that it's extremely gooey. Fudge is the hardest to pick out of the 3 having quite a mild flavour which is very pleasant when you catch it.

All in all then a very pleasant choice with several different flavours to keep your tongue entertained (ooer!). My personal tip is that as a chunkless variety it tends to work very well both in combination with other similar flavours such as the chocolatey ones, and also in things like banana splits or sundaes, so be creative and see what you can come up with.

Must admit that I do enjoy the chunky bits. Chocolate background is my particular favourite. I find that Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Cherry Garcia go very well together. You must try it!

A most mouth-watering op.
