Advantages: Tasty and cheap
Disadvantages: Could do to be more in the pack
I used to like garlic butter kievs, but some time ago I went off them because I always found that they split and the butter ended up leaking out everywhere, and the bottom of the kiew came out of the oven soggy.
So as an alternative I decided to try these Bernard Matthews Mini Kievs. The description from Dooyoo isn't quite right, because they're actually made from turkey not chicken, and they're filled with a cheese and herb sauce. And they are absolutely delicious.

These are cook from frozen items, and can be grilled or oven baked. I prefer to oven bake so I don't have to worry about turning them regularly.
It's essential that you keep an eye on the cooking time though, because if you leave them in the oven too long they will follow the example of their larger butter cousins and spilt and spill the centre all over the tray. Luckily because the cheese sauce is easy to see, you can spot them splitting and take them out of the over before that happens.
But onto the taste, firstly because the kievs haven't spilled out onto the tray, they are nice and crispy on the outside. The turkey breast is obviously processed in order to form the ball, but it still tastes good and is relatively moist for a turkey product. The best bit though is the cheese sauce in the centre, it's lovely and creamy and not to strong in flavour. The sauce is made with mature cheddar, but it doesn't taste overly cheesy, and the garlic isn't strong either, they are certainly a lot less garlicky than butter kievs.
The price seems to have dropped since I first tried them, now you can buy them at Asda for £1 a packet, and you get 12 mini kievs in a packet.
Although they're the same size as a chicken nugget, because of the sauce they are much more filling, so 12 kievs would easily suit a family of three or four (unless you're greedy like me!).
