From time to time I have been known to be tempted in to packet mixes and I have always been very pleased with Betty Crocker products so when I saw this in my local supermarket for £1.87 (Asda) I decided to give it a try. The sell by date was around 10 months and I was very pleased that you could keep this open without it spoiling and therefore I knew I would get a lot of use out of this. Betty Crocker is not actually a real person and is a brand created by General Mills (American company) and it has existed since 1921 so it is a brand that most people will have come to recognise, especially in recent years thanks to their television advertising on UK ... Betty Crocker is one of the best known and loved manufacturers of fine confectionary. You walk down the baking aisle at your local supermarket and you see that the shelves are lined with this delicious looking brand. They make all sorts, from cake mixes to packets and 'extras'. One thing they make is butter icing, ready for you to spread onto a cake. The flavour I bought for a whopping £1.97 is the chocolate fudge. I was planning on baking a cake, though never did get round to it.I came across this tub in the back of my shelf in the kitchen cupboard, actually forgotten about! I love baking and eating the fruits of my labour! I like to think that cakes are one of my specialities. I make wedding cakes and birthday cakes (not professionally) for family and friends - and friends of friends. One of the things I quite good at making (if I don't say so myself) is chocolate fudge cake. I often use a good chocolate sponge with a heavy does of chocolate fudge icing as the basis for a novelty cake. Making the fudge icing isn't tricky, you can just get a bit sticky!
