Birds Eye do a selection of ready meals and one of the ones I have tried recently is the chicken curry with rice. They can be found in all supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's and I have also seen them in smaller shops and little newsagents. They are frozen products and can therefore be found in the freezers. In my local Asda they were placed in a freezer next to all the other beef burgers of different brands however sometimes they will be found alongside all the other Birds Eye Products. This ready meal weighs 400g which is quite a good weight for a ready meal. Weight Watchers meals for example weigh around 300-350g so this shows just ... Read the complete review

Okay, first up, the good. This actually tastes not too bad. A lot of microwaveable ready meal curries taste weak and flavourless, leaving an awkward feeling in the stomach. This one, however, is quite tasty. There is a touch of creaminess to it that other curries often lack. It is likely to sting you for anywhere between £1 and £2 depending on whether you can catch it on a deal in a supermarket - these meals are often on a multi-item deal, or reduced price. They're easy to make, too, and you can use the microwave with the curry still in the packaging to make it in just a few minutes. It's also a lot lower in fats and the like when compared to a lot of similar ... Read the complete review

Ready meal curries I find to be very hit and miss in general - although few ever resemble the creamy freshness of a home made curry, there are those with their own distinct flavour and taste, whereas some are clearly composed of the cheapest ingrediants possible. Birds Eye, known as generally a quality manufacturer of food stuffs, have performed a modest success with their Chicken Curry. Nutritional Information (per meal): Energy = 410 calories Protein = 26g Carbohydrates = 58.4g Fat = 8g Fibre = 7.2g Sodium = 0.8g Salt = 2g Considering how notorious ready meals are for being unhealty, very fatty and extremely ... I had one of these Chicken Curries With Rice tonight and it was quite enjoyable although not mind blowingly brilliant. The portion was also too small for a main meal. I paid £1.50 from Tesco's. It comes in a mauve box and inside the contents are in a tray split into two with both sides tightly covered with plastic film. On one side is the chicken curry and on the other is the rice. You need to make a few piercings with the point of a fork or knife on both sides and microwave for at least 7 minutes on full power. I found that it needed 10 minutes in my microwave. A little tip is to put a few drops of water on the rice side of the tray ... Read the complete review

My youngest daughter (aged 17) has always been a fussy eater, but now, thanks to a bit of peer pressure, she's finally trying 'new' foods. I'm always a bit reluctant to buy frozen ready meals as they are quite high in price & I knw how little they cost to actually make from scratch. However, yesterday hubby & daughter decided to do a 'big' shop at Tesco & she chose this Birds Eye Chicken Curry which she happily ate last night. The box is as shown & cost £1.49 & all the relevant nutritional information, ingredients, cooking & storage instructions are clearly listed on the reverse. I won't list all the values but just to let ... Read the complete review
