As a family of two adults and three kids four kids on weekends we are always looking for a standby meal in the freezer that we all enjoy when not everyone is home or we just need a quick meal without cooking from scratch and this is a definitive favourite of all of ours...

As a child my mum used to serve us up frozen pies which were all soggy on the bottom and flaky and tough on the top hence never eating frozen pies since, but my wife had picked up a pack of these birds eye chicken pies from iceland and we decided to give them a go, they come in their own foil tray and are individually a really good size pie, all we do to them is give the lids a quick milk wash over the top and bake in oven for 30-35 minutes and to be honest i was totally amazed the first time we had these the pastry is beautifully soft and melts in your mouth and really tastes like home made butter shortcrust pastry, the chicken is 100 percent chicken breast so you know your not going to get all the scrag ends you find in cheaper pies and they come in a lovely thick gravy with some carrots and peas in fact the pies really are chocca block full to the top and are just enough to serve with some fresh peas and carrots and a little bis-to gravy for a perfect lunch or evening meal .
They are 445 kcals per pie if anyone is counting Cal's which is quite high but if your not having them daily or whacking them with a heap of greasy chips I think this is fine, I don't know what my mum used to do to the pies to get the pastry so awfully wrong but these pies are beautifully soft pastry and even the bottoms are crispy and golden once cooked.

I am converted these days and id say give these a go just once and see if you enjoy at £1.80 a box of 4 they aren't going to break the bank either..
