One fifth of the roll contains 117 calories, 1.9g protein, 20.0g of carbohydrate of which 13g are sugar, 3.2g fat of which 2.5g are saturates, 0.6 fibre and 0.05g sodium. I enjoyed my slice of chocolate Arctic roll, as I tasted the soft chocolate flavoured ice cream it brought back memories of those Sara Lee gateaux that we used to buy ( maybe you still can buy them!) the soft ice cream tasted like the frosting on the gateau. Before I make any hasty decisions I think I am going...more

Premium Review Birds Eye Chocolate Arctic Roll: Roll On The Arctic Chocolate (433 words)

Up until the advertisements and offers on Birds Eye Arctic Roll I'd never tried the sponge and ice-cream combo, and I never knew Birds Eye did deserts either! I think these were once in fashion as a desert as the box says 'it's back!', and apparently 'better than ever before' but I must have missed out first time around. I trust Birds Eye to produce quality food that tastes good, but I was surprised to find their chocolate ice-cream, which is quite different to most of their range of chicken/fish/veg, is actually very tasty. I think chocolate & ice-cream count as 'good mood food' for most people, and their triple chocolate arctic roll provides a rich ...  Read the complete review

As soon as I spotted this little box of nostalgia in the realm of wonders that is my local Morrison's freezer aisle I knew that I had to have it. With the words "It's back!" emblazoned boldly on its front, Birds Eye have brought back the exotic dessert of my youth with a twist - chocolate flavoured. I last ate an arctic roll in about 1976. For those of you too young to remember that was the Summer of the drought, in my memory it was a halcyon time of no school for weeks, and plenty of very hot days that meant more copious amounts of ice cream than normal. We hadn't heard of global warming back then. Arctic roll was a real treat, the original one ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Birds Eye Chocolate Arctic Roll: Brrrr it's Arctic out there! (297 words)

I was wandering around Sainsburys last night looking for something exciting to have for tea. My favourite trick is to try and buy food that is on special offer and that's how I came across this product. I've been getting the Tesco brand of Arctic Roll for about the past year, as my husband has been relieving his childhood through ice cream(!), so as a special treat, I bought one for us to share. Currently priced at £1, but I think the normal price is about £1.90. For your £1 you get a fairly small box with 260g of roll inside. One roll is designed to serve 5 people. Each portion has 115 calories and 3.2g fat, so if you're looking for a small ...  Read the complete review

I remember seeing these as a kid, but my mum would never buy them. So when I spied one in Tesco I decided to give it a try. ~The Product~ This particular roll is the Triple Choc version, the one I remember seeing in my childhood was just vanilla. It's chocolate ice cream, with chocolate sauce, covered in a chocolate sponge cake. Sounds really bad for you, but the calories per slice aren't too bad at 115 calories, which equals 222 calories per 100g. For allergy sufferers the roll contains, wheat, milk, egg and soya. Its also prepared in a factory that handles nuts. ~My Thoughts~ I have to say ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Birds Eye Chocolate Arctic Roll: Roll Up, Roll Up ! (760 words)

It amazes me to think just how much food and fashion have in common, some years ago the Birds Eye Arctic roll was one of the foods of the moment yet as time moved on it was considered out dated and pretty prehistoric. Then all of a sudden Birds Eye announce that the once family favourite is back on the menu. Having sampled many a slice of the raspberry flavoured roll I thought I would give the chocolate Arctic roll a whirl, something different for a change. On offer at Asda for £1, so it wasn't an expensive dessert by any means. The first thing that you notice is the snazzy box, Arctic roll is back! And the hefty chocolate log is sitting prettily on ...  Read the complete review
