My husband & I love chicken but don't often have the time to cook it from scratch so instead we buy Birds Eye Cracked Pepper Chicken. It's a really tasty way to enjoy chicken without spending hours in the kitchen first.

They cost £1.38 for 2 pieces of chicken from Tesco. They come in an orange box with the Birds Eye logo on the front and a picture of the two cooked pieces of chicken which look absolutely delicious. On the back are the ingredients, nutritional information and cooking instructions.

Ingredients:
Chicken Breast (73%), Glaze, Marinade, Glaze: Water, Vegetable Oil, Sunflower Oil, Wheat Flour, Wheat Starch, Black Pepper, Ginger Powder, Dried Red and Green Pepper, White Pepper, Maize Starch, Skimmed Milk Powder, Sugar, Rice Flour, Pork Gelatine, Salt, Natural Flavouring, Yeast Extract, Tomato Powder, Onion Powder, Natural Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin#), Basil, Parsley, Marinade: Water, Wheat Flour, Wheat Starch, Maize Starch, Salt, Rice Flour, #Lecithin is used to bind our glazes together. It is a natural material found in many traditional food ingredients

Birds Eye use 100% chicken breast in this food which is great as it's more healthy for you than the stuff with water or other more sincere things added. As you can see it also contains loads of herbs; black pepper, ginger powder, dried red and green pepper, white pepper, yeast extract, tomato powder and onion powder. This gives it a brilliant flavour. Unfortunately this product does contain wheat, milk and soya so those who are allergic to these things won't be able to enjoy this food.

Each piece of cooked chicken contains:
165 Calories (8% GDA)
0.5g of Sugar (1% GDA)
8.6g of Fat (12% GDA)
2.7g of Saturated Fat (14% GDA)
0.9g of Salt (14% GDA)

They need to be kept in the freezer until you are going to cook them when you need to:
Oven:
Remove from packaging
Preheat oven to 190C/375F/Gas Mark 5
Cook for 25 minutes

Grill:
Remove from packaging
Grill on high temperature for 20 minutes

They smelt delicious whilst they were cooking. You could really smell the chicken and the spices. I couldn't wait to try them. They're a lovely golden colour with spices flecked all over the breadcrumbs. They taste amazing, the chicken is just right and you can taste the pepper on the top really well although it isn't too strong.

Overall I give this product 10 out of 10 but I must warn you that it contains a lot of salt and fat so be careful! Delicious!
