... taste of the sponge. As with my ice creams I like to have a wafer or some sort of extra. I find eating ice cream on its own a bit boring so this is a perfect combination for me. It comes shaped as a roll hence the name "Arctic Roll" and you can just cut yourself a portion or two! I would recommend that you leave it out for a good 5 minutes as it tends to be rock hard and is best enjoyed when a little soft! I find because the ice cream is wrapped in the sponge outer layer, the ice cream does not melt as fast a...more

Premium Review Birds Eye Original Raspberry Arctic Roll: Yummy Ice Cream Treat! (600 words)

I am not a big ice cream fan mainly down to the calories in most ice creams although I do love to have a little treat now and again, also with buying ice cream tubs you never know how many calories you are consuming! Especially if you are like me and you go back for seconds! Arctic roll is somewhat different to most ice creams out there; in fact it is a bit of a classic. I remember my mum buying this when I was a kid, then I don't remember seeing it for ages and ages until last week I was having a look at the Ice creams in Asda and spotted this next to the mousses! I just fancied buying one, and am glad I did! ***What it is ...  Read the complete review

It's not that I'm mean or can't be bothered but desserts aren't often served up for my family as we mainly prefer savoury rather than sweet dishes so it's a bit of a treat when they get 'afters'! I couldn't resist, however, adding 2 x Birds Eye Raspberry Arctic Rolls to my shopping basket when I was on Tesco's website as they had a BOGOF so I got them for £1.90. Each one is approx 5.5" long, cellophane wrapped in a carton exactly as shown in the picture. The weight of each is 260g & the recommended way of serving is to slice it into 5 portions - however I think in this case more is better. The full ingredients & list of ...  Read the complete review

"It's back!" exclaims the excited blurb on the packaging of the Birds Eye Arctic Roll. "I never even realised it had been on holiday" I mumble to myself as I dropped a couple of the frozen desserts into my trolley on a recent trip to ASDA. But secretly I'm excited; you see, I'm big on nostalgia, and the memories of Arctic Rolls scoffed while watching Jackanory or Blue Peter as a schoolboy meant I was always going to try these frozen treats of yesteryear when their comeback was announced in late 2008. In my mind there was always something a little naughty and cutting edge about the humble Arctic Roll - some clever rascal has made a dessert combining ...  Read the complete review
