Advantages: tasty

Disadvantages: you might no like it

Bisto comes in an unmistakable red tub and has has a plastic red lid. You can't miss it on the shelves of the supermarket. It's one of the leading brands of gravy granules which I'm sure everyone and their mother has purchased at sometime or other in their life.

It will set you back a little sum of 69p in kwiksaveand a little dearer in other supermarkets.
This should last you a couple of weeks, unless you eat meat for every meal and have gravy with it.

The tubs are 170g and you get brown dried gravy granules inside.
To make your gravy, boil the kettle, put 4 heaped teaspoons into a measuring jug and add up to 280ml of your boiling water, stirring all the time until your gravy thickens, add more granules if you like thick gravy.
There are 14 calories per 50ml serving, so it's not to hard on the weight watching.

It's very versatile and can be used on all meat dishes, in shephards pie or just on the veg to brighten up your dinner.
I love to have lashings of gravy on my yorkshire puddings at sunday dinner time, it makes the meal. You can make the gravy to whatever consitancy you like, some people like it thick others thin.

If your cooking sunday dinner for a lot of people and are rushing around trying to time all the veg and meat to arrive on the plate at the same time, it's sometimes easier to add the gravy granules straight into the pan of carrots and pea's, the juices from the veg adds to the flavour of the gravy and it's easier to dish out with a ladle with after you have put the meat, yorkshire puds and roasties on the plate, so that people can just come into the kitchen and grab a bite to eat.
So for calories count, price and versatility.

Bisto is great.
