Advantages: delicious, not sickening
Disadvantages: a bit pricey, addictive
Not long after Stuart got back from work he offered to have a walk in Asda. Yes I know it is a bit sad to take our local Asda for a centre of attraction but to be honest we both knew we needed a chocolate boost. Buying chocolate is for us a need, a craving and doesn?t occur very often, as we don?t have a sweet tooth. We?d rather buy savoury things to quench our hunger rather than sugary products. So here we are in the warm supermarket. We obviously know where to head for so it doesn?t take us long to reach the confectionery aisle. But to our great astonishment nothing really takes our fancy so we decide to only get some ice cream and frozen pack of red fruits to go with it. We also grab a few items on the way to the check out. It is when we walk towards the cashier that I spy with my little eye this rectangular prism located on a shelf. And I suddenly said to Stuart: ?I always wanted to try that?. Stuart seems surprised to see me putting the packet in the trolley. This sporadic decision of mine is very unusual. I watch the pennies we spend when it comes to food shopping as we have a budget to respect every month and that night I seemed to have gone out of my calculator mind when getting this £1.79 box. Once the bill paid it is not long after I open the pack. I hand one to Stuart, one to Emma, our daughter and of course one for myself. Tearing off the wrapping was very easy and I quickly shoved the dome-shaped chocolate in my mouth. ?I don?t think I quite enjoyed the first one.? Saying to Stuart. ?I was so impatient to taste it that I kind of swallowed it as a whole.? Emma didn?t seem very keen on it so she kindly offered it to me. I took the time to fully appreciate the treat. And ?Calapuno? fulfilled my expectations. Not only it was succulent but also not sickening so I could enjoy more than two in a row. The taste is basically the same than a regular Bounty Bar. However it is the smooth, airy and light coconut textur
e inside that makes the difference. The milk chocolate shell itself is rather simple. Not too sweet, crispy and covered with coco shreddings. The cream inside is absolutely succulent. This bite-sized chocolate shell is just heaven to me. I think I may have found THE ONE. The sheer indulgence I was seeking for finally came to me. I am sure this fondant can only delight you and you will too be charmed. I think the addiction is just around the corner for me. I am off to get another box tonight with Stuart? . For information: RRP: £1.79 for 175g Bounty Calapuno is a Trademark of Mars. The customer service is available to the following address: For Great Britain: For Ireland: Mars Master Foods SLOUGH BOX 3856 SL1 4 JX DUBLIN 4 The box (white on the surface) is rectangular with colours schemes close to blue and green with an image of Calapuno unwrapped. It has a transparent window, weighs 175g and therefore contains many individually wrapped chocolate. Probably enough to satisfy a family of 4 to 5 members. Nutritional values or rather calorific values: For one of those delicious chocolate shell you accumulated around 60Kcal, your protein level went up to 0.7g, you digested 6.3g of carbohydrates (clearly specking that is about 0.1mm of extra weight around the thighs and bum) and finally you gathered an amazing 3.6g of fatty element (anyway it is winter and ?Calapuno? will be well spent). Calapuno has traces of hazelnut, emulsifier and flavouring.

- 11/05/03 Actually, I do find these a wee bit too sickly. Still, I can manage to polish a whole box in one go somehow! :-) |
