Disadvantages: boring , there are better biscuits out there
Bourbon biscuits.
You must have eaten a bourbon biscuit sometime, the first Bourbon biscuit was made in 1910 by Peak Freans in Bermondsey south London. It is named after an aristocratic French / Spanish family why I am not sure maybe the manufacturer wanted to make the biscuit sound aristocratic? Since then this style /type of biscuit has been made by many biscuit makers, some more successfully /tastier than others.
This biscuit has nothing to do with the Bourbon whisky drink. Bourbon whisky is named after a town in America where the Irish immigrant farmers went to get their tipple. So do not expect to get drunk on a Bourbon biscuit , or it to taste like brandy .
What is a bourbon biscuit?
~~~~~~~~~~
Just in case you have never eaten a Bourbon biscuit let me describe one to you.
A Bourbon biscuit is a rectangular sandwich biscuit about 2 inches /5cm x 1 inch 2 ½ cm. Two thin chocolate flavoured biscuits are sandwiched with a chocolate fondant cream filling. Often the upper surface is pricked as if by a fork there are often two rows of 5 holes uniformly pricked/punched into the biscuit. Sometimes sugar is sprinkled on to the bourbon biscuit. Sometimes the word Bourbon is etched into the top of the biscuit.
Thin you recognise this biscuit now?
How does it taste.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well the chocolate flavoured biscuit has that cocoa chocolate taste. The biscuit is fairly sweet. The filling is a chocolate fondant a smooth chocolate flavour, the filling taste does vary quite a lot depending on the manufacturer.
This biscuit is not a rich chocolaty flavour but a however it is chocolaty
How to eat
~~~~~~~
It is possible to eat this one quite lady like taking smack nibbles, or you could try putting the biscuit whole in your mouth ,(not easy). This biscuit usually takes 3 or 4 bites to eat it all.
This biscuit is quite a hard baked biscuit. It is possible to dunk, but the cream filling melts and gets in your cup of tea.
Another way to eat the bourbon biscuit is to try and separate the biscuits by biting of the top one either in large or small nibbles this leaves the lower biscuit covered in the chocolate fondant filling. Now you have a choice, either lick or nibble the chocolate filling of the lower biscuit, or eat the biscuit with the fondant cream exposed.
How to find a bourbon biscuit
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is quite easy really I think all supermarkets carry at least one brand of bourbon biscuits packets. Tosco does a value one as well as a standard Tosco’s own most supermarkets have their own brand bourbon biscuit. This biscuit is a popular one for manufactures to add to their mixed biscuit selection packs.
How much do they cost?
~~~~~
Well the price is as variable as the make and quality. As you would expect well known brand names more expensive.
400g of tesco value biscuits cost 34p
The tesco standard bourbon biscuits cost 41p per 200g. Crawford’s are 59p for 150g
If you want to make your own bourbon biscuits go to http://www.biscuit-recipes.co.uk/Recipes/Bourbon.a sp where there is a recipe.
What else can I tell you about bourbon biscuits?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Do I like them?
~~~~~~~
