Advantages: cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: not as good as penguins
The bourbon biscuit, a strange creature in my eyes. chocolatye crunchy biscuit sandwiches a chocolatey cream centre but there isnt actually any real chocolate. its a biscuit i like but only on occasions its as if i sometimes crave one but would never choose them over other snacks.
Everyone and there dog makes a version of the bourbon biscuit my personla favourite being burtons although asdas own brand come a close second. a type of bourbon i hate is the co-op attempt, it has to much sugar on the outside of the biscuit and disguises the chocolate taste too much.
THE BOURBON EXPLAINED!
surely there is no one out there that doesnt know what a bourbon is but here goes with an explenation anyway. A bourbon biscuit is basically 2 rectangular chocolate flavour biscuits with a lair of chocolate flavoured cream between them and a light sprinkling of sugar on top. not complicated and not particularly appealing but some how every now and again you will fancy one.
the average packet will contain between 24 and 28 biscuits usually packed in a brown packet with a see through panel, priced between 32 and 52p depending on which brand. i have never seen smaller packs than that but have seen jumbo packs containing twice as much in asdas for a bargain 78p.
They will never be top of my biscuit shopping list, that will always be penguins. penguins actually are similar to a bourbon only they are covered in real milk chocolate which makes all the difference.
With a cup of tea or coffee there will always be a place for the bourbon biscuit and the fact they are very cheap is on their side too but the bottom line is there are far better biscuits out there!
thanks for reading :-)
Summary: Ok but not great!
