Advantages: its just so chocolately
Disadvantages: none
I grew up on these and right at this very minute, there is a pack of bourbons lurking in my cupboard. The allure of the chocolate centre, covered with yet more chocolate! It is indulgence in a biscuit!
Taste:
The inner bit is squidgy and soft and tastes of a milk chocolate, it is very sweet and melts in the mouth if you leave it in there. The outer biscuit is crumbly and less sweet but still has a pleasant chocolate taste to it. I would liken the outer biscuit to the taste you get from Coco Pops. Sometimes you will find Bourbons will have a thin dusting of sugar on the biscuit.
Critique:
I cannot fault them really, they taste superb, they last for a good few weeks without going stiff or soggy and the retain their flavour after being open a while.
Value for money:
In a normal sized pack you will get enough bourbon biscuits to last about 2 weeks. I tend to find you will want at least two in one sitting though. Supermarkets manufacture their own bourbon biscuit these days. Tescos sell a pack for about 35p and they taste wonderful.
Verdict: Perfect for a snack or for coffee mornings with friends
Summary: super
