Advantages: taste great, good value.
Disadvantages: fatty.
I can't say I'm the biggest fan of these biscuits, I find that they affect the taste of my tea / coffee when dunked , although there are always some in our household because my mother and brother love them. We get through about 2 packets of these a week.
What are bourbon biscuits?
The bourbon biscuit was first introduced in 1910 by the Bermondsey company Peek Freans.
The biscuit is like a little chocolate sandwhich, with chocolate biscuit then a thing layer of chocolate fondant then another thin piece of chocolate biscuit. They are very similar to custard creams only varying in size and obviously taste.
Cost
We have the ASDA 400g pack and they are really nice biscuits and brilliant value for money. As you can see the best value ones here are the ASDA smart price ones as you can get 400g for 28p which is brilliant although I have never tried these so I can't tell you if they're any good.
- Tesco- 200g- 46p
- Asda- 400g- 49p, 200g- Asda smart price, 14p
- Sainsbury's- 200g- 46p- 400g- 56p
- Waitrose- 400g- 49p- 200g- 45p.
Nutrition
Your average bourbon contains around 65-90 calories and about 3 or 4 grams of fat, of which roughly 1.5-2g saturates. It is quite a lotper biscuit, especially if you're like me and can't only eat 1. They're nice though so I'd say they're worth it. You're not going to put loads of weight on as long as you eat them as part of a balanced diet.
Taste
When these biscuits are fresh out the packet they are really nice and crunchy although when you eat an older one that has been in the tin a while I feel that they don't taste as fresh and nice. The chocolate biscuit just tastes dry really a isn't a prominant taste. The fondant cream in the middle is almost always creamy and smooth and melt in the mouth type material unless the biscuit isn't fresh. I usually pull the biscuit apart so I'm eating more of the fondant and I chuck the biscuit side back in the tin hehe.
I would recommend these as they make a nice snack and although they're not brilliant to be dipped in your drink, they're still really nice dry. They're not too rich tasting and I find them nice myself. They are the best prices so you can literally buy them for pennies, definately worth while.
Summary: Nice biscuits that you csn buy for pennies.

- 10/04/09 I love Bourbons, I can sometimes get through a packet a week on my own! Good job I do alot of walking. I find my tea tastes fine when dunked, but I am now probably used to the taste they leave.
