==BOURBON==

My brother is perhaps the biggest _bourbon_ biscuit fan in the whole world. This, fortunately or unfortunately means that there are pretty much always these variety of biscuits in our cupboards and biscuit tins. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of these biscuits, and there are definitely other chocolate biscuits I'd rather have, however on the occasion I do have one, or two, or three of these little biscuits I have found it to be an all round enjoyable experience.

===What are they?===
What are the species that are known as bourbon biscuits. Well let me en-lighten you. The bourbon biscuit was first introduced in 1910 by the Bermondsey company Peek Freans.
The biscuit is known as a sandwich biscuit. Basically what it is, is two thin chocolate biscuits, with a creamy chocolate fondant filling in the middle. I think these are quite similar to the Oreo cookie, but I think Oreo's are nicer. The two chocolate biscuits are normally 3cm x 6cm in length.

===Availability===
Bourbons are an extremely popular biscuit, and from past experience you can find them almost anywhere. We usually buy ours from Tesco. I for sure know that you get them in Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Co-op, and some newsagents and smaller corner shops. I presume you can get them in most places which sell biscuits and sweets.

===Cost===
Most supermarkets have their own brands of Bourbons. These are usually fairly cheap and wont break the bank balance. I have done my research (good girl, huh?!) and come up with a few options.
*Tesco- 200g- 46p
*Asda- 400g- 49p, 200g- Asda smart price, 14p
* Sainsbury's- 200g- 46p- 400g- 56p
*Waitrose- 400g- 49p- 200g- 45p.

In my opinion these prices are quite good for the Bourbon biscuits because firstly you get a lot in a packet, and I have found the biscuits are always of good quality, no matter what the brand.

===Nutrition===
If you want to be healthy, why are you eating biscuits? I often get annoyed with people who ask how many calories are in this cake, or is this biscuit fatty and so on. If you wanted to be healthy and cut back on the cals, you shouldn't have even looked at the treats, let alone be about to consume them. Anyway, a typical bourbon contains around 65-90 calories. For a single biscuit this is rather a lot, but if you are not on a diet or you are not watching what you are eating it is probably worth it. A typical bourbon contains about 3 or 4 grams of fat, of which roughly 1.5-2g saturates. Again pretty bad for a little choccie biscuit, but after all, like I said, what can you expect?

===Taste===
The taste of bourbons, in my experience, have been pretty much the same no matter what the price. However on the occasion I have had an older biscuit, in which the pack has been opened for maybe a few weeks, i do find them to be chewy and pretty bland tasting. However when these biscuits are fresh out the packet they can be very enjoyable. The plain chocolate biscuits do not have too much of a strong taste of dark chocolate, in my opinion they taste more of milk chocolate but thats my opinion. The fondant cream in the middle is usually quite hard, but almost always creamy and smooth and melt in the mouth type material. Although these arn't my favourite biscuits, I would probably never turn one down and on the occasion I do have them I make sure I enjoy them.

===Would I recommend?===
Yes, in a word. Because these aren't too sweet, you can often find yourself scoffing more than one. It is well known that people like to dunk these into there coffee and tea, but i have tried this and I personally don't like the biccies soggy, crunchy is the only way for me.

I know I like to know what is in each item because even when you're dieting you can fit a treat or two into your diet and still lose weight - beats living off chicken and carrots all the time ;)
