Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Not very nice

Looking at the other reviews here on Dooyoo, the Bourbon biscuit seems to be a firm favourite, with 5 stars awarded by most people. Unfortunately my recent experience with Tesco's own brand of Bourbon Creams leads me to write a much less favourable review.

First, I should just point out that these are Tesco's standard Bourbon Creams, & not the ones from their Value range.

I don't generally buy or eat a lot of biscuits, but was recently tempted into buying a pack of Bourbons, having fond memories of them as a special treat in my childhood. 40p seemed a small price to pay for a trip down memory lane.

When it came to eating these biscuits, however, I was very disappointed. The pack promises a "chocolate sandwich biscuit with a chocolate flavour filling", however the reality was a very bland biscuit, with only a tiny hint of chocolate flavour. They also seem to be particularly dry, as if they don't contain quite enough filling. There was a vague, unpleasant after-taste, & I was left with a strange, 'heavy' feeling in my stomach, even after just one biscuit.

I did find one way of making them slightly nicer, which was by dunking them in a cup of tea, which seemed to itensify the chocolate flavour, whilst mixing it with the much nicer flavour of the tea. It also solved the problem of the biscuit being very dry.

For those who are interested, each 14g biscuit contains 67 calories, 4.3g sugar & 3g fat. You get about 14 biscuits in one pack. At 40p per packet, these biscuits are cheap, but in my opinion not very good value.

Summary: Buy Custard Creams instead
