For years Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard crisps have been the Loch Ness monster or the Elvis Presley of savoury snacks. Many sightings reported, no firm evidence ever produced. Whenever I got into a food nostalgia conversation and mentioned Brannigans crisps, more often than not I got a response along the lines of 'Oh, I saw those in a newsagents near Barnsley last Easter' or 'We went on holiday to the Shetland Islands and had some of those in a pub.' What good did that do me? I don't actually a need a packet in front of me to review them, I remember them like it was yesterday. Brannigans Crisps were one of the UKs first premium crisp brands. The crisp ... Read the complete review

Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard Crisps I have always been a fan of potato crisps as a snack. One of my favourite brands at the minute is Brannigans and their Roast Beef and Mustard Flavour. A bit about Brannigans From what I can gather Brannigans are now owned by KP snacks. KP snacks are a British company that was founded in 1853. The KP apparently stands for Kenyon Produce and the name is most familiar to myself through their nuts, minichip crisps and choc dips. As well as producing these products they also produce or own McCoys, Hula hoops, meanies, skips, frisps and of course Brannigans. Brannigans themselves are a ... Read the complete review

So today I resulted in yet another purchase from the vending machine at work. This time I saw this packet and memories from my childhood came flooding back. I remember having this flavour of Brannigans when I was younger, however my memories of them being delicious were either slightly untrue or the crisps have changed! The 'thick cut' claim is only half true in my eyes, they did not look or feel that thick, more an average thickness on the crisps front. The taste, well, lets just say you need to be a fan of mustard, as upon the first taste that is the predominant taste that comes through, a strong kick of mustard. Here I found that the ... If you type in Brannigans crisps into google you'll find numerous forums with poor tortured souls imploring the heavens 'Where can i get these delicious snacks?' They are certainly elusive, there was a sweet shop near where i live that used to sell them but alas they are now no longer stocked. The packet (or at least the last time i saw them) is a mock brown paper back, with a friendly old butcher (Mr Brannigan himself oh yeah) posing jauntily in a victoriany butchery sort of way. On opening the packet there is a marvellous full aroma, the crisps are very thick and rather large in size. The taste of these things is absolutely ... Read the complete review

Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard Crisps Description: Manufacturer: Brannigans / Type: Crisp I have read a few reviews on these crisps and also discussed them with friends, and almost without exception, everyone says the same thing, "they were great, why can't you buy them any more?". It amazes me that so many people liked these, and yet they don't seem to be available, maybe we should start a Dooyoo campaign to try and have them reintroduced! For those who were not lucky enough to try them, these crisps came in a brown bag which had a paper like texture. As soon as you opened the pack, you could smell the mustard. The ...
