Branston Pickle ... you can think of!

... you're missing a treat. It contains lots of crunchy vegetables: carrots, onions, cauliflower, marrow, rutabaga and gherkins all chopped up, in this case, really small in a tangy vinegary pickle. And you really get a whiff of that when you unscrew the lid. Yet don't be put off by the vinegar smell because it tastes much better than that. The label suggests it's great with cheese, salads, cold meats and in sandwiches. I find it delicious to put in cheese toasties as a perfect quick snack on a cold day, though be careful t...more

Premium Review Branston Pickle: A Bit Of A Pickle (724 words)

Every so often there becomes something I get a bit obsessive with or can't stop eating. It used to be Jaffa Cakes once, then it was Walker's Sensations crisps but as of late it's been a slightly unusual one, it has been Branston Pickle. This was always something which I loved when younger and I'd have it with everything. I used to have it at the side of my plate to go with any meat I had to give it a better taste or I'd have it with potatoes or in a roll depending on how I felt, sometimes I just ate it plain. Lately though, my favourite way to eat it is in a roll with either ham or my favourite, bacon. Branston Pickle is made by the company Crosse & ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Perfect Pickle! (507 words)

Yesterday, I did a big food shop - I plan to start stocking up on Christmas goodies early, and one of the essentials for Christmas at my house is Branston Pickle. Ok, so it’s not really a Christmas food per se, but it does add a delightful twang to a turkey sandwich on Boxing Day. Branston first launched in 1922 and named for the village where it was first made, it sells over 28 million jars a year - except for when a large fire decimated Branston Christmas stock in November 2004. The company was left with only a two weeks supply of Branston Pickle left, and with three weeks at the minimum until the factory and equipment could be repaired and production was ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Branston Pickle: Bring out the Branston (185 words)

I do love cheese and pickle sandwiches, and this is why I always have a jar of Crosse & Blackwell's Branston pickle in the cupboard. Being mad in the same unique way since 1922, Branston pickle is a mix of large chunks of vegetables, together with a tangy fruity, slightly acidic yet sweet type sauce, it makes a great accompaniment to cheese, ploughmans, ham etc. As soon as you twist off the lid, the aroma whooshes up your nose, this is because of the mix of vinegar, onions, garlic and spices included in the mix. You can buy this product in a range of sizes and in the last few years, Crosse & Blackwell bought out a small chunks ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bring on the Branston (306 words)

We love Branston Pickle in this house, particularly my son, who would probably have a sandwich with just the pickle and forget the ham if he could. Branston Pickle is a chutney which has Carrots, Rutabaga, Onions, Cauliflower, Marrows and Gherkins in it. Now I hate marrow and gherkins and swede (Rutabga) as a rule, and have never eaten them in any other form since being forced to when living at home with my parents. But in Branston Pickle I can eat them without caring, and they taste good. Premium Review Branston Pickle: I'm in such a pickle! (478 words)

Branston pickle in my house is a firm favourite and we always have a jar in the fridge! We all love it and only purchase this brand of pickle as in our view nothing else competes with it in our opinion and I have in the past tried a few cheaper alternatives that left me rather unimpressed! The Packaging.... Glass jar with a gold, twist on/off lid to the top of it. On the front there is a green label and on that I'm told it is Crosse & Blackwell Branston 'Original' Pickle. On the back label I'm told a bit about the product, given a list of ingredients and allergy advice, nutritional information is listed as are contact details for Crosse & ...  Read the complete review
