Advantages: Taste great, stretchy jam, well packaged, great price.
Disadvantages: Can make a mess when eaten.
Burtons Jammie Dodgers seem to be the most recognisable brand of Jammie Dodgers and the best (in the opinion of Tom, my fiancé- fussy biscuit eater!).
The packaging is instantly recognisable as it's red and yellow with pictures of biscuits and a slogan advising of the fact that there is 'no artificial colours or flavourings' and the back of the packaging contains the ingredients & nutritional information as well as some information on the company Burtons whose website is www.burtonsfood.com
A Jammie Dodger is two circular shortbread biscuits with a heart shape cut out of the middle of the top biscuit and they are sandwiched together with raspberry flavoured plum jam. The shortbread biscuits are a little dry when eaten alone but with the stretchy jam in the middle it all goes very well together and gives a delicious chewy texture with a hint of sweetness within.
I thoroughly enjoy Jammie Dodgers and these are currently on offer, reduced from their normal price of 82p down to 55p and this offer runs until 23/06/2009 so head down to Tesco if you want to stock up! There are 83 calories & 3g of fat per biscuit and for such a sweet yummy biscuity treat I don't think that this is too bad and wouldn't mind a few of these for my elevenses!
These are usually a favourite with children because of the lovely jam centre and although I won't eat jam with my toast I certainly don't mind it with these lovely shortbread biscuits. I would definitely recommend these for young and old alike and think that the stretchy jam is what makes this a firm favourite in my house because you can never make a clean bite through one of these biscuits without a load of stringy jam going over where. Take care when eating to avoid too much mess!
I am rating these 4/5 and think that they are delicious :) I love the way that the biscuits are provided within a little tray folder paper tray as I always find myself eating one little section of the tray and because this is just two biscuits it's not that bad for me and helps me keep things in moderation.
Summary: A delicious biscuit treat that tastes great.
