Advantages: Good range of chocolate flavours

Disadvantages: Nutty ones

I wonder how many of you will be eating a Cadbury roses sweet this Christmas? A lot of yous I guess.

Cadbury is one of the worlds largest chocolate producers. In 1824 John Cadbury a young Quaker began making chocolate in Bull Street Birmingham .
Cadbury chocolates are a very food chocolate one of the best, If anyone is in doubt as what to buy someone for a present they often choose a Cadbury chocolate box as a reliable product

Cadbury Roses chocolates were first made in 1938 . I must have had my first Cadbury roses sweet in 1955; I would have been a bit young in 54.
I have certainly childhood memories of boxes of these sweets at Christmas times.

So just in case you have missed the delights of one of the Cadbury roses sweets let me tell you a bit about them.
Cadbury roses sweets are small individually foil wrapped chocolates, presented in either a tin or a box.
The tins and boxes are quite attractive. They are blue with yes you have guessed a red rose flower shape or two on it this rose has a couple of green leaves too. The word Roses swirls across the container in white and the Cadbury name logo on the purple blue Cadbury colour.
Inside the containers you will find a selection of the 14 varieties of chocolate. Some flavours have been around since I was a nipper, some new flavours introduced since then.
Each sweet contains approximately 50 calories

I shall describe the chocolates below in order of my preference

The Golden barrel.
A bite sized sweet barrel shaped wrapped in a golden foil wrapper. Inside the chocolate covering is a soft runny caramel. Don't hold it in your fingers too long as it gets quite sticky.

Orange crisp
This one is in an orange foil wrapper a nice Cadbury chocolate with small pieces of orange crispy bits in it. Not too orangey flavored just a subtle hint

Chunky truffle
This chocolate cube shaped is in a turquoise wrapper. A chocolate outer shell encloses a soft truffle centre mmmm very sweet.

Country Fudge
A long stick shaped chocolate covered in cold foil. This is a miniature Cadbury finger of fudge enclosed in a tin chocolate shell. Tasty and chewy

Cadbury dairy milk.
Simply a piece of Cadbury dairy milk chocolate wrapped in the same wrapper as a standard larger dairy milk chocolate bar .

Tangy orange creme.
An orange foil covers a cube of chocolate this encloses a soft creamy orange tasting fondant , can be sweet and sticky , pop it into your mouth in one , go on I know you can

Chocolate bite
Wrapped in a lighter purple than the Cadbury dairy milk this is just dairy milk chocolate with little pieces of biscuit in it, gives it that "bite"

Strawberry dream
A red foil wrapped chocolate covered strawberry fondant; very sweet again this was higher on my favorite list when I was a child

Caramel
A golden yellow square chocolate covered hard caramel toffee like sweet

Caramel velvet
A green foil wrapped soft caramel, covered in a layer of chocolate a bit like the golden barrel.

Praline moment
A nutty chocolate. So not for me a nut hater. This is a circular golden wrapped shaped chocolate that has a praline centre covered in milk chocolate. Not one of my favorites, but nice if you like your nuts! Obviously, it contains nuts, just thought I'd mention that .

Brazilian Darkness not one I like (I don't like nuts)
A red foil covered dark chocolate covering caramel which has bits of Brazil nuts in the caramel,

Hazel nut whirl
Another I don't like. A whirl of chocolate covering a whole hazel nut. Dark purple wrapper on his one

Hazel in caramel
A hazel nut all covered in caramel enclosed in a nut shape shell of chocolate wrapped in dark purple foil again.
No I don't like this nutty one either.

Ok so now I feel a bit sick having pigged all these chocolates. Not really the best choice for a chocolate hater like me.
But if you want to buy some for granny or for teacher you can do .
These chocolates come in a range of weights /sized boxes and tins .

The prices at the moment are
80g mini pack 84p
Cadburys Roses 441g £3.28
Cadbury Roses Tin 1.018 Kg £5 at Tesco
Check the best prices at http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Administration/comp are-supermarkets.aspx
I think there are a few more sizes available too for further details see t www.cadbury.co.uk for the full range of chocolates
Although may be not my most favorite sweet selection they are fine someone else can eat the nutty ones .

Summary: Individual wrapped chocolate by cadbury

My choice in the opposite order from you - I love nuts and caramel but don't like orange/strawberry creams or coffee!!
