 ... which I suppose is to be expected since a manufacturer like Cadbury would be highly unlikely to use real rum in their products. Rum and raisin is a tried and tested combination that works beautifully; normally I am not a fan of raisins in chocolate but they complement the powerful rum-like flavour beautifully. I strongly recommend this; the rum taste may be too strong for some and slightly artificial, but the overall flavour is delicious, and uncharacteristically good for a Cadbury product....more

I saw this in the Co-Op recently on a 2 for 1 deal, and decided it looked worth a try. I bought both this and the orange bournville variety, and ended up preferring this one. I did not expect much from it to begin with; Cadbury's products are rarely particularly inspiring. I expected it to be too sweet and sickly, but it turns out that they are far better at making dark chocolate than milk chocolate, and this is deliciously bitter. I was so excited when I heard that Cadbury were bringing back Bournville Old Jamaica rum and raisin flavoured dark chocolate. I had fond memories of it as a child as it was always the chocolate that I would have at Nan's house. It had seemed so exotic in it's gold foil and sunset coloured wrapping depicting an old ship, and the taste of rum, to a child, was a little bit of naughtiness! Now a fully grown adult I was just as keen to sample that taste again. so I purchased the new 180g bar from Sainsburys which cost me £1.65.
