Advantages: Its cadburys chocolate, the buscuit was quite nice

Disadvantages: Buscuit was dry, Could not really taste the chocolate

Since I moved out of home (approximately 5 years ago now) my Mum and Dad are really kind and occasionally sent us round a few naughty edible treats! My mum tells me that they are part of a buy one get one free deal of which she will never eat but I am sure it is a case of just spoiling us!

The latest treat to arrive was a packet of Cadburys Digestive Half Chocolate biscuits. I have to admit that I had never seen them in the shops before and Mum informed me that she got them from Morrison's as part of the buy one get one free deal. I think the biscuits normally retail at around £1.18 and can sometimes be found on a 2 packs for £2.00 deal.

As soon as I saw the logo of Cadburys on the front I was happy as Cadburys is my absolute favourite chocolate. I have to say that I am not a massive biscuit fan, I occasionally work my way through a packet of ginger nuts but that is about it! However, I was not going to turn down free food and the next time I made a cuppa I was going to treat myself to one of the biscuits.

The packet comes in traditional Cadburys colours, Purple! The packet is 300g in size and each biscuit is about 4.5cm in diameter. The packet as I previously stated bares the Cadbury logo as well as a picture of the biscuits. The packaging is quite simple and on the reverse of the packet is nutritional information, ingredient listings and storage advice.

To open the packet of biscuits was really easy, they are wrapped for freshness and safety in a wrapper that s securely sealed at both ends. You just need to open either of these ends and then the biscuits are ready to eat!

The biscuits look like any other digestive from the bottom, a beige colour with holes in and then when you turn the biscuit to the front you can see the layer of Cadburys chocolate covering the top. It is quite a thin layer of chocolate although as the biscuits surface is uneven the layer of chocolate is not smooth but rippled so some areas of the biscuit felt as if they contained more chocolate than others.

When it came to the taste test I have to say I was slightly disappointed. The biscuit sort of overpowered the chocolate and it all tasted quite dry really. The chocolate still had that unmistakeable Cadburys taste but it was not half as good as eating one of their chocolate bars. I could not fault the taste of the digestive biscuit really, it was just that I think I was expecting more as when Cadburys usually put their name to something it is fantastic in taste.

The quality of the biscuit was also a little bit of a let down as they were quite small really in thickness. I have tasted more 'chunkier' biscuits which I have to say would cost less than what you would pay for the Cadburys ones.

As the biscuit did have a layer of chocolate over it, it was quite sweet, especially as ingredients such as cocoa butter, sugar and cocoa mass are all part of the ingredients as well as vegetable fats but as I found the biscuit that little bit to dry it took something away from the this.

A few pieces of nutritional information on the biscuits are as follows (Per serving)

Calories ~ 85
Sugar ~ 4.7g
Fat ~ 1.4g
Saturates ~ 2.1g
Salt ~ 0.2g

No biscuit is ever going to be healthy for you as they always contain a generous helping of sugar and often salt but as these had the chocolate on they were even worse for the waste line!

In conclusion, whilst I appreciate that I did not buy this particular pack of biscuits it is not an item that I will be rushing to buy from the shops again. The dry taste of the biscuit combined with that you could not really taste much chocolate has put me off. I think Cadburys should stick to their chocolate bars and what they do best!

One finally point though... My dad really liked the biscuits so it does show that it is all down to personal opinion!

Only 3 out of 5 from me I am afraid.

Thanks for reading.

Summary: Better sticking to the chocolate bars!!!
