Advantages: Pleasant Flavour

Disadvantages: Very Small

After my recent re-acquaintance with the Cadbury Curly Wurly, I decided to take a nostalgic look back at another chocolate bar from my youth, and this time, it's the turn of the 'Chomp' - a small milk chocolate bar with a caramel filling.

Costing only 15p for the 25g bar, the Chomp comes wrapped in red packaging with yellow text. Prise-wise, the Chomp has pretty much stayed the same over the years, although I do have vague memories of it being 10p at some time in the distant past. There aren't many chocolate bars which you can buy for such a small total - apart from our favourite snack-amphibian 'Freddo Frog' of course.

Taste & Appearance

Upon opening the Chomp, the prospective eater is presented with a smooth and flat piece of chocolate which is around 10cms in length - a whole 9cms shorter than the Curly Wurly. Biting into the chocolate coating reveals a chewy caramel interior which has a pleasant taste. The Chomp seems to be identical to the Curly Wurly in terms of its flavour, only differing due to the fact that it's shorter, slightly thicker, and doesn't have holes running down it.

Ingredients

The Chomp contains;
Caramel (70%) (Glucose Syrup, Sweetened Condensed Skimmed Milk, Vegetable Oil, Glucose-fructose Syrup, ugar, Flavourings, Salt, Emulsifier (E471), Milk Chocolate (Sugar, Dreid Whole Milk, Cocao Butter, Cocao Mass, Dried Whey, Vegetable Fat, Emulsifier (E442), and Flavouring).

Final Word

Although tasty and cheap, I won't be purchasing future Chomps, due to the fact that they are finished in a couple of bites, and therefore seem to be a bit of a pointless investment. Of course, this limited size does have its plus points, and on this occasion it's the fact that each Chomp only contains 55 calories, which I suppose isn't very much for an entire chocolate bar - one for the kids only I think.

Summary: Nostalgic Snack

I used to buy them at 10p too - Did they ever have a price-point inbetween or did they just go up by 50% one day?

I love these. They contain five more calories than a flump and I choose these everytime unlike my sons who love their 'flomps'.
