Advantages: TASTES GOOD, NOT TOO EXPENSIVE, A NICE TREAT FOR THE ONE YOU LOVE.
Disadvantages: NOT AS GOOD AS A PROPER CREME EGG....
I can hear the carollers at the door singing "Christmas is coming, creme eggs are on their way" and you know its true. With only 51 shopping days left till The Big Day, you might be wondering what there is too look forward to once all the chrimbo decorations are down and the tinsel has stopped sparkling. Well the answer is creme eggs of course! No sooner have the shops cleared away their selection packs and chocolate christmas tree decorations, than out come the newly arrived boxes and boxes of jewel coloured creme eggs.
But what can we, who love the creme egg, and miss the creme egg for those 6 months of the year when we do not see it, what can we do to ease our sorrow and boost our sugar levels?
Well, Cadbury have come up with the answer. It looks like a caramel, but its not. Inside each of the 6 brick shaped segments, is the rich, sweet fondant that you would normally find inside a creme egg. White and yellow, and beautifully creamy, this is a treat that you will be able to enjoy all the year round! It is very distinctive, as the wrapping is the same blue, yellow and red of the foil wrapped creme eggs, though because they are segmented, you can eat it slowly and really savour the flavour!
They are a little bit sicklier than the egg version, and I don't think I could eat more than a couple of segments at a time (though I am off my chocolate at the moment). The only other possible downside is that if you enjoy eating a cadbury creme egg by biting off the top and scouping out the fondant from the middle, you'll probably find this quite hard to do with the bar version. I have to say if I had to choose between a proper creme egg, or this bar, the egg would win hands down, but as a good substitute, it passes muster!
A single bar contains 210 calories, and 5.9 grams of saturated fat. I just paid 45p at my local corner shop for one bar, though you probably will get them slightly cheaper at a supermarket, or in a multi pack.
So suprise the one you love, and wrap one of these little beauties up to put in their christmas stocking - you might make their day!
Thank you for reading, Kate x
