Advantages: Dairy Milk and crunchie!
Disadvantages: None
Yum, whenever you mix homeycomb and chocolate you are guaranteed a great taste combination and the new Dairy Milk Crunchie from Cadburys is no different. I am a big chocolate fan as you can probably tell from some of my reviews and I actually first tried this combination over Christmas in a mini size that was part of a selection box so I had to try a full size one as I loved the mini version so much. A Cadburys Crunchie is also one of my favourite chocolate bars so to pick the two of them together is even better.!
A crunchie is a honeycomb bar with a layer of chocolate all around it. If you are not familiar with honeycomb the scientific definition is a mass of hexagonal wax cells built by honey bees in their nests to contain their larvae and stores of honey and pollen. The honeycomb as a food has quite a sweet taste (as you would expect from something made by bees such as honey the liquid) and an almost kind of sickly sugary taste.
An original crunchie bar was first produced in 1929 with Cadburys dairy milk coming out in 1905 but the two of them together is a fairly new product. The chocolate bar consists of squares of gorgeous Cadburys chocolate that break apart from each other. Inside the squares are chunks or nuggets, which is probably a better way of putting it, of lovely honeycomb pieces. The honeycomb is spaced out fairly well in each piece of chocolate and there are quite a lot of the nuggets so you are guaranteed a lovely crunch with every square.
The chocolate squares are really thick so it is really nice to bite into them. The bar itself contains 6 chunks of chocolate but in some varieties you can get eight chunks, I'm not sure about this one though.
This bar is definitely a nice addition to the range though and a great tasting, good quality bar in my opinion.
The wrapping of this bar is quite distinctive and eye-catching. This one has the familiar purple colour but unlike the others, not all the way through. On the bottom part of the wrapper is the lovely golden yellow colour that you associate with a crunchie bar. There is also a picture of one of the squares of chocolate with lots of little golden honeycomb nuggets popping out of the chocolate.
Cadbury has been making chocolate since 1824, when John Cadbury opened his first shop which has now grown to be one of the biggest sellers of chocolate in the world.
The great thing about Cadburys is that they use a glass and a half of fresh milk in every half pound of milk chocolate and proper cocoa beans so the chocolate itself is amazing and creamy. It definitely has a very rich taste to it and in my opinion is one of the best chocolates out there.
The nice thing about these chocolate bars is that they only have 185 calories each so if you are looking for a chocolate fix this is not as bad as some of them out there, yummy!
