Advantages: thick chocolate, chunky

Disadvantages: its very chewy!

After my earlier dalliance with the remaining Smarties I had left in the tube I thought I'd had my chocolate fix for the day, that was until my wife sat down with a cup of tea and a Cadburys Double Decker. Much to her annoyance I asked her to break me a bit off as this is one chocolate bar I have not eaten in years. Reluctantly she has generously provided me with a corner of said chocolate bar and I have to say I'm rather impressed.

To be honest, I'd forgotten how chunky they actually are and found myself enjoying the piece that was so generously donated to me.

Packaged in the wrapper as shown above the chocolate covered chewy bar doesn't seem to have shrunk since last time I had one which is unusual when compared to other bars that have gotten smaller over time.

The chocolate is very thick and plentiful and is creamy and smooth, chewing a bite I can taste the cereal pieces and nougat and it does make for a tasty experience. I had forgotten how hard the base is and found that this did take some breaking up, this contrasts very well with the texture of the nougat which is easy to break through. Overall I am very impressed with the texture and taste.

Nutritional information reveals that the bar contains 275 kcals and 11.4g of fat, but as I haven't had the whole bar I don't feel guilty about this, and have informed my wife that she should be grateful for me helping her to eat the bar so that she hasn't had to take in all of the calories herself, I don't think this has gone down too well though.

I enjoyed this reacquaintance with the Double Decker, it was a lot chewier than I remembered and a whole bar would probably take some time to get through, but it is very tasty and satisfying. I'm not sure that it would replace my favourite bar as being my first choice, but for a change it was very nice.

All in all I would give the Double Decker 4/5 stars, losing a star for its intense chewiness, it probably would be better with some sort of hot drink to help melt it down a bit in my mouth, but still very tasty none-the-less.

Available all over really in local shops and supermarkets etc, a single bar costs around 45p.

Summary: see review, thanks for reading.

I haven't bought one of these for years now. Maybe I could treat myself to a bar this week end.

Agreed, in pretty much all respects. I really like these things, but a surprising number of people don't even seem to realise they still exist!
