Advantages: Its a chocolate flake with wholenut!!

Disadvantages: Dont think it actually contains Praline!!

This brand of chocolate joined the Cadbury's family around October 2004 as part of the 'Flake Family'. In short it is a milk chocolate which is crumbly & flaky and nestled in a rich hazelnut praline. Definately a flake worth indulging in.

The original Cadbury's flake, as most people know can be either eaten on it own or added to other various things - such as ice-cream or hot chocolate. Flakes can also be used for toppings on cakes. Before the Praline came out a few other types of Flake bars; the Snowflake (which Anthea Turner shamelessly promoted at her wedding) this is a white chocolate flake - i think this is delicious however can become quite sickly. Cadburys also brought out the 'ingenius'
idea of a Flake bar which has been dipped in more chocolate and called this the Flake Dipped. After these chocolates had arrived we were then treated to the Praline...

The Flake Praline I purchased cost me 45 pence, which is the norm I think for a chocolate bar these days. However I did wonder whether Flakes are considered luxury items which would explain why they are priced higher than the Toffee Crisps of this world.

The packaging of the Praline is practically identical to the original Flake except that instead of the twisty wrapper they just have a run-of-the-mill chocolate wrapper. One half of the wrapper is yellow and the bottom half is a bronze type colour. You have the 'Flake' written in the middle and underneath this is the word 'Praline' in white letters. Along the bottom of the wrapper it reads, and I quote "Crumbly milk chocolate Flake nestled in a rich hazelnut praline".

When you open the standard wrapper the bar is revealed to be a normal Flake, half coated in chocolate with little bits of hazelnut in it. It also has the same sort of smell as a normal Flake. The actual taste of the Praline is delicious, it has a creamy-sweet chocolate taste with the savoury nutty kick - I found it to be a very satisfying chocolate experience.

Something interesting though, a definition of Praline is caremelised sugar and nuts. The Flake bar that I had didnt contain this, i would describe the chocolate as being a flake with hazelnut bits, both inside and out.

To sum up this review, i would recommend this bar to anyone who likes Flake bars and also like wholenut. This addition to the 'Flake family' is a worthwhile one I think and will definately be having another Praline.

Summary: Overall, an above average chocolate bar!!!

I have to go against the trend of rating this 'useful' as I failed to think of anything you'd missed (except the number of calories, which to me isnt all that important :-))
