Advantages: Quality chocolate - nice praline taste.

Disadvantages: Full of fat and sugar. A tad on the expensive side.

***Cadbury Flake Praline***

I felt like a much needed chocolate fix last night and was desperate enough to walk a third of a mile to my local Tesco's to browse the shelves. I hadn't had one of these in a while, so took it home to eat with my coffee.

***What's it like?***

It comes in the familiar yellow wrapper with the purple writing on, but the difference with this flake is that there is added hazelnut praline. Inside the packet is a flake bar coated with a chocolate covering that has pieces of praline embedded in it. It's appearance kind of reminds me of the chocolate logs that you used to make in cookery class at school. It also seems quite similar to the ripple bar.

Calorie wise it contains 205 calories and 12.8g grams of fat (boo) (6.7g of which are saturates). It also has daily GDA requirements on the side, which for me isn't agood thing; it just makes you guilty to realise you are eating something not good for you, which takes up far too much of your daily allowance.

***Opinion***

The chocolate covering is thick and when you bite into it, yes it is crumbly, but it doesn't collapse in the same way that an ordinary flake does. It seems to have a firmer texture.

You can taste the praline (which I love) and it is quite nice dipped in coffee! I don't know if anyone has eaten them, but the taste is a little similar to the diplomat chocolate that Thorntons produce. Only this isn't as expensive and also you are not likely to stuff your face with half a dozen chocolates!

I find that I like this better than plain flake now, but I wouldn't eat one too often, as I know that would be unhealthy. For me, the ordinary flake just gets too messy and the chocolate goes everywhere.

On the downside it is devoured quite quickly, but is quite filling - you do feel like you have eaten something - not like some chocolate bars when you just feel like you have eaten fresh air.

I think that they have done a good job with remaining faithful to the original, whilst adding an additional twist. I don't think that it has been heavily marketed, so look out for it next time you go shopping.
***Availability***

At 59p, it is not the cheapsest chocolate bar, although I think you can sometimes buy them on offer from shops like Poundland etc.

I would recommend giving it a try, if you haven't sampled one before, but will knock one star off because I think it is a little expensive.

Summary: Nice for a treat from time to time.
