Advantages: They're cadbury's!
Disadvantages: None = they're Cadbiry's!
Well it's that time of year again and so I shall start by wishing you all the compliments of the season and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and all you wish for in 2008.
In our house we do love some nice chocolate at Christmas and to us nice chocolate has to be Cadbury's and my husband's favourite is Cadbury's Heroes so there is a nice big tin of those on the coffee table.
We paid £5.99 for ours which is a 1kg tin, but you can get these in 1.5kg tins and in cardboard tubs too. They are often on special offer during the year but are always on offer at Christmas to tempt us all!
I will just say at this point that it is a great test of my willpower as I am a diabetic struggling to control my blood sugar levels using diet and tablets, but I am doing well and have only had a couple so far!
The idea of Miniature Heroes is that you get miniature versions of all your favourite chocolate bars in one tin. Since they are made by Cadburys obviously the miniatures are of products from the range of Cadburys chocolate bars. If you prefer the chocolates produced by Mars then Celebrations is the equivalent tin of miniatures that you should get - but I digress........
The sweets themselves actually look like smaller versions of all the main bars produced by Cadburys but in mouth sized portions.
So, which bars are represented here? Well I am using my original review posted on Ciao some years ago when Heroes were first produced and have noticed how the selection has changed. The Picnic, Time Out, Nuts About Caramel and Fuse have all gone so here is the current list of contents!
CRUNCHIE
This one is a perfect replica of its larger counterpart with golden honeycomb covered in Cadburys milk chocolate and just right for popping in my mouth and sucking until the honeycomb dissolves.
TWIRL
A little tiny Cadburys Flake covered in Cadburys milk chocolate - is this what heaven is all about?
DAIRY MILK
This is quite simply two small chunks of that wonderful Cadburys Dairy Milk Chocolate and perfect for sucking until it dissolves.
DREAM
This is exactly the same as the Dairy Milk but in white chocolate.
DAIRY MILK WHOLE NUT
This is a glorious chunk of Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate with a hazelnut in the middle.
CARAMEL
This is just one piece of a standard Caramel bar which is great as it is, but any more than one piece is too sickly for me I'm afraid.
FUDGE
This is basically a tiny replica of the famous 'Finger of Fudge' and again is more enjoyable for being small as the whole bar is a bit much. The main problem with this one is that it tends to stick to me teeth!
As Bugs Bunny would say - 'That's All Folks!'
I try to ignore the following information, I know chocolate is fattening, I don't need to read the calorie values on the wrappers, but if you really want to know this is the awful truth about Miniature Heroes.
Each 100g contains the following:
Calories 490 (ooer!)
Protein 5.6g
Carbohydrate 59.2g
Fat 25.6g
Obviously this is a generalisation and some of the sweets will be more fattening than others. If you REALLY need to know you could find out by looking at the wrapper of the relevant full sized bar, which would give you a nutritional breakdown of the corresponding sweet.
The comical bit is the notification of the address to which you return the sweets if 'not entirely satisfied' - how can you not be satisfied with Cadburys chocolate?
Mind you I suppose there may just have been a fault in the manufacture that needs mentioning so here's that address just in case:
Cadburys Limited
PO box 7009
Bourneville
Birmingham
B30 2PX
The website address is www.cadbury.co.uk but if you look at the bit about Heroes it lists the old set of contents so that doesn't get updated very often then! LOL!
Summary: Bite sized versions of favourite Cadbury bars
