Advantages: Nice packaging, individually wrapped tasty chocolate, good variety that most will like

Disadvantages: None for me

I prefer being able to have just the odd bits of food here and there to snack on, so small chunks of chocolate heaven are more tempting to me than a regular chocolate bar. The only downside to a lot of the variety boxes/tubs of choccies is that there's always at least one flavour that gets neglected because they're unloved, but Heroes always seem to get finished off until the last one has been eaten.

Heroes, previously called Miniature Heroes', are produced by Cadbury's, one of the most popular confectionary companies with years of knowledge in producing good quality products.

These were first introduced 10 years ago (1999) to fight a battle with the newly released Celebrations by Mars.

Heroes are available in different sizes, including the 400g box as shown in the picture for this review. The large tins, which cost around £10, are extremely popular at celebratory periods, such as Christmas when they fill shelves of supermarkets to breaking point.

The 400g size is sold in a purple box and costs around £3.18 (Tesco). Inside are the individually wrapped chocolates, and with a good experiery date, these are good for keeping at home for a snack, taking out with you, sharing or giving as a present.

The variety of chocolates currently include: Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Dairy Milk with Caramel, Cadbury Dairy Milk Whole Nut, Twirl, Fudge and Crunchie. I think this is a great choice of chocolates, with nothing (except perhaps for the nutty one) that is to be particularly disliked. I like, if not love, all of these mini chocs, so for me, the selection is spot on as I can buy a box of these and know that none will go to waste.

There was a dispute over the larger tins, which include Crunchie & Dream (the delicious, solid and chunky white chocolate), because these two favourites were given the chop over Christmas 2008 in an attempt to 'cut costs'. I think that's a poor excuse from such a wealthy & popular chocolate manufacturer, but I guess the 'credit crunch' hits everone hard...

Each little choccy is quite little, only a bite or two in size, but great for satisfying a small chocolate craving. I couldn't even make a guess at how many chocolates you get per box, but I know that when you open a large tin, it looks like a delicious bottomless crate of chocolate. Very tempting!

They taste just like the original, regular sized bars, so no quality is spared in making these miniature choccys.

All in all, Heroes offer a good choice of the favourite Cadbury's bars, making them a perfect choice for sharing, snacking or giving as a gift. They taste great, are popular and are presented cool, trendy packaging, so they get 5/5 from me.

Summary: My first choice for a choccy variety box, yummy :o)

The last time we bought a box there were Chocolate Eclairs and Bournville chocolates in it instead ot some of our favourites. I take it from your review that the contents have now reverted back to the original list? Susan
