Advantages: Nice packaging, taste good, not too bad for you
Disadvantages: You have to knot the strings
I absolutely adore Christmas, possibly even more so now I am a mum and I can get excited for Harry as well! I put my Christmas up as soon as it turns December the first and I love putting loads of baubles on, as many as I can squeeze on in fact! When I was younger, I remember my mum always used to buy us some Cadburys Chocolate decorations, which we were allowed as a treat occasionally. I was shopping in Sainsburys the other day and saw a packet of the very same decorations, so I couldn't resist getting some for Harry's tree!
Cadburys are well known for their delicious chocolate, in particular their signature bar which is Dairy Milk. These Cadbury Tree Decorations are also made of their milk chocolate, and are a fantastic treat for you or your children at Christmas! The chocolates come in a packet of 10 which are wrapped in foil and are strung so you can hang them from the branches of your Christmas tree. There are cheaper imitations out there if you're looking to save a few pennies, but in my opinion, nothing beats Cadburys own, probably one because of a bit of nostalgia on my part!
Cadburys are well known for their distinctive purple packaging and this can also be found on the tree decorations. The packaging has a lovely purple background with a picture of Father Christmas on, and it is clear plastic with each of the chocolates visible. Each of them is individually wrapped in purple foil, but each one has a christmassy image on in nice, vivid colours. It's nice to have pictures as children will like to point out the different pictures such as a snowman, a Christmas tree or Father Christmas while they are choosing one from the tree, or even when they're trying to hang them on there! The foil also serves to keep the chocolate fresh while they're hanging in your home, but I shouldn't imagine they'll be hanging too long!
One thing that annoys me with these decorations is that the strings aren't tied, so when you cut open the packet, you have to sit there and tie the strings of 10 chocolates! The strings are a good quality gold string and are a good length so there will be plenty of room to let the chocolate dangle from the tree. They are a bit of a pain to knot because they are small and fiddly, but once they're done you don't have to worry about them again. Provided you knot them tightly enough, they'll stay there until you want to remove them from your tree and eat them.
The chocolate inside is exactly what you'd expect from Cadburys - lovely and smooth and creamy. The chocolates are around an inch square and just over half a centimetre thick. The chocolate is solid so you get a good portion of chocolate when you eat these, and is a good size for a treat for a young child as well. Each chocolate contains 60 calories and 3.5 grams of fat, but as I said they are okay for an occasional treat! They have a best before date of April 2009, so plenty of time for them to be eaten. A nice touch is that the image on the wrapper is also indented onto the chocolate as well, which I think is quite a good little addition to this product, and sets it apart from cheaper versions which have just been plain under the foil...boring!
Hanging them on the tree is a fun thing that you can do with your children like I do with Harry, although I do move them all up to the top layer of the tree once Harry's in bed otherwise he helps himself! I came into the room the other day to find 2 foil wrappers hanging from the tree with no chocolate inside... I wonder who ate those hey?! For the money they cost, I think they are very good value and are a fun little addition to any Christmas tree. The lovely rich purple foil wrappers with Christmas pictures look lovely and festive, and should suit any tree colour scheme.
The chocolates cost around £1.99 for 10 chocolate squares, or can often be found on offer for 2 packets for £3, which is better value. They can be found in big supermarkets and other Christmas goods retailers.
